THREE ARTS CILIUIB This year the Three Arts Club continued to promote interest and talent in music, speech, and pictorial art. Through the guidance of its officers and enthusiasm of its members, the club kept up its high standards . . . Among their varied activities, Three Arts sponsored a pay assembly in the fall which was a finan- cial success and the members presented a clever assembly in honor of the high school presidents during the spring. This was followed by the annual matinee dance. To celebrate a successful year the members enjoyed a bicycling trip at the close of the school term . . . SCAlLlP'lElL AND lFOlR4ClElP'S Under the direction of Mr. Sessions Wheeler, the biology club, Scalpel and Forceps, was formed in February of this year. This club is for the purpose of aiding those interested in medical work. Meetings are held every Tuesday. The club has sponsored lectures given by the members of the Pre-Medical Depart- ment of the University of Nevada and carried on dissection o f parts of the cow's anatomy . . . HONOR SOCIETY The Honor Society is an organization for students who have attained high scholastic ratings. To be eligible, a student must have had an average of 90 or above for two semesters. During the year, the Honor Society sponsored one money-making activity and an assembly at which the honor pins were awarded. EMBLEM CLUB The Emblem Club is composed of those students who are eligible to attend a state or a district music festival. The main purpose of this organization is to promote good-fellowship among the music groups. During the year, the club specialized in initiations and gave several successful dances. BAND, ORCHESTRA, AND GlLlElE CLUB The band, orchestra, and glee club's ranks were depleted this year by the conscription and enlistment of boys in the armed services. The boys' glee club has only two remaining members . . . Because of the war shortages, the band was able to make only two of its usual trips--one to the Reno Air Base and the other to the Sierra Ordnance Depot at Doyle. Both band and orchestra gave numerous concerts about Reno during the year . . . The music students adopted as their slogan for this year: Anything to help the war effort.
