S. bound for Yobosuba, fapan via Pearl Harbor and Marcus Tstand. During ttze stopover in lifavvaii ttze Rendova participated in Hunter-K1'tter exercises, ttzus mabmg port in Yobosuba, japan in earty August. Ttze Rendova, wittz MdT1.HQ Figtzter Squadron 212 fDevitcats, on board, taunctzed its first Hctose air support H mission against ttze Communist aggressor in Korea on September 26, 1Q51. Ttze H Devitcats H of VMF-212 ftevv sorties from ber deck untit December 1951 vvtzen ttze Rendova was retieved and ordered back to ttze UNITED STATES. Tn fanuary 1Q52 Captain Ficbting was retieved and Captain YV. L. Kabter, TJSAT, assumed command and conned tbe stzip ttzrougtz severat varied operations on ttze West Coast untit September 1Q52. On September 16ttz of ttzat year, tbe Rendova was ordered to ttze Marstzat Tstands via Tfwajatein Tstand and tben to Enixvetob Atomic Proving grounds. Ttze Rendova svveated out tbe next tbree monttls at Enixvetob assisting Witt: Top Secret tests. On November 22 tbe staip was ordered bacb to ttze States arriving tbere December 5, 1Q52. fanuary 1953 found ttze Rendova undergoing a five montb overbaut at Long Beacb Naval Stzipyard. On Marctz 17, ZQ53 Captain Kabter was retieved as Commanding Officer by Captain C. Renfro, USN. From futy untit December 1952 tbe Rendova conducted routine air operations ttze Coast of Catifornia, and on 21 December 1Q53 Captain C. Renfro was relieved and Captain Wm.
