Wu ,l 4-'es CS' .f if ,A ssl QQ Wim it 'ii' runes, as-an ff? f I I , ,v 0396 9 f PN- r 'N .9111 s Ln 3 fix foe? 0 ll fasu o 44 lt seems as though st were only a short whsle ago that we entered Memorsal b t n realsty st was September 4 1940 Tsme goes so fast that we can hardly realsze our hsgh school days are about over And as our school days draw to a close we the Class of 44 must tell the story of our eventful Memorsal lsfe We were young and green lust lske the 144 members of the present Freshman class and we too were qusckly put sn lsne by Brother Maurus One of our first otticsal acts was to elect our class officers For these posts we chose Donald Dsppel pressdent Robert Ensner vsce pressdent Jerry Fehn treasurer and Vsc Ksssel secretary Dursng our Freshman year the Emcy Club was formed with Charles Smsth as sts head The purpose was to help the mssssons and dursng thss persod we all became foster fathers by ransomsng two Chsnese babses lOur ksds must be about four years old by nowl Wsth the opening of our second year at Restz Memorsal Frank Endress was our lone Sophomore representatsve on the vorssty eleven In regard to the class olficers Jam Saum was elected pressdent Tom Fsscher vsce pressdent Gus Wolf secretary and Paul Delker treasurer Our class had the prsvslege of snststutsng a new custom here at Memorsal Under the dsrectson of our class sponsor Brother Benedsctus we undertook the responssbslsty of promotsng the annual Chrsstmas Dance for the Bengal Mssssons today a Sophomore class responssbslsty The sprsng sports were sprsnkled wsth Sophomore regulars and reserves wsth baseball headsng the lsst of sprung sports ln September 1942 we entered our thsrd year of hsgh school wsth all the enthussasm Junsors can have We got off wsth a bang sn our Junsor year by electsng the capable Tom Fsscher pressdent The other officers were Frank Endress vsce pressdent Bsll Schaefer secretary and James Saum treasurer These men were to take the resns of the Junsor class gusde them through a very exasperatsng year and as our class hsstory wsll show they dsd an outstandsng sob Now let s look on the athletsc ssde of our class Three of our fellow classmates Roy Stone Frank Endress and Jerry McBrsde earned first places on the varssty eleven whsle threc others Maursce Angermeser Bob Ensner and Jsm Saum played the role of varssty reserve All ssx bays were awarded the coveted M sweaters Tom Fsscher and Rudy Deller were the Junsor Class representatsves on the basketball squad and by a vote of the team Tom Fsscher was elected to captasn the 1943 44 edstson of the Tsgers The Junsors gave good account of themselves sn the sprsng sports but perhaps the most outstandsng sndsvsdual feat was the wsnnsng of the Csty ssngles Tennss tstle by Larry Hsll Also he teamed wsth another Memorsalste Bsll Gresf to wsn the Csty doubles Tennss tstle Under the dsrectson of our class sponsor Brother Loyola we gave the Sensors a Star Dust prom Wsth the skylsne sn the background and twsnklsng stars from above Press dents Pat Psng and Tom Fsscher led the grand march ln September we regsstered for the opensng of school for the last tsme and wsth regsstratson the 43 football season opened Wsth Captasn Endress leadsng the way, the team domsnated by Sensors came out leaders sn csty competstson wsth 5 wsns and 1 tse Sensors earnsng thesr letters for the first tsme were R Deller D Dsppel W Schaefer J Kassenbrock and Pat Mullally Class electsons were held early sn the fall and Frank Endress was pscked to lead us through the final year Hss assocsates were ,lsm Saum vsce pressdent Tom Fsscher secre tary and Bsll Schaefer treasurer As the football season drew to a close Captasn Fsscher took over the Tsgers where Captasn Endress left off and led the Tsgers snto second place sn csty competstson and a place sn the finals of the sectsonal Two new faces Jerry Steckler and Vsc Ksssel earned letters for the first tsme The MEMORIAL contsnued to hold sts good ratsn,g under the Sensors care News and edstorsals were capdaly taken care of by Paul Delker and Jerry Fehn whsle Tom Fsscher and Rudy Deller handled the sport page Perhaps a but sad we ssgh finss to our deeds here at Memorsal Our ranks have fallen from 117 to 71 boys But thss ssnt the end of our hsstory rather st ss lust the end for us here at Memorsal because me are confident that our hsstory wsll never be com pleted that our accomplsshments wsll lsve sn the annals of tsme SENIOR BOYS 1 FN P9 no 1'- 11 'Tx fkol Ai 'T fffi ft ffkf X1 5 0 Ae L4 5 Ae C , kj N ' ' ' , u i if '3 .
