In addition to those whose picture appear above, Eugene Stone, Arlyn Billerbeck, and Larry Crist were also reporters during the first semester. The newspaper assignments were assigned by the editor to various stu- dents on a rotating plan. The school news was printed each week in the Reinbeck Courier. The gossip column was called 'The Mop.' The Ram Blurr staff exchanged school news and school newspapers with several surrounding schools. In October four senior girls--Janice Paulsen, Neva Ackerman, Elinor Linder, and Marian Bicket attended the Iowa High School Journalism conven- tion at Des Moines. Our school news was broadcast over the KXEL Music for Moderne program each week. They plan to farm a twenty-five acre tractof land for the coming year. They have also mixed and sold mineral as one of their projects. Merle Conradi won first prize in the district corn yield contest con- ducted by the Pioneer Hi-Bred Seed Corn Company, third prize winner in the same contest was Arlen Williams. These boys received cash awards. A judging team composed of Gary Karkosh, Gaylord Billerbeck, and Gary Rickert won second prize in the F. F. A. judging contest held in connection with the Cedar Rapids Hog Show March 9-10. The Reinbeck Chapter was represented by Robert Dahms, Raymond Mumm,and Virtus Ramundt in the District F. F. A. speaking contest which was held at Maynard on March 31. Mr. Frink was faculty adviser for the F. F. A. Chapter. Ak ,154 ..
