A few of these priceless treasures are . 'Ez 'X' named below: First of all, here is a rather shabby golden 1ion's tail that belonged to Beth Coleman. It has swished through many ball games. Here we have a typewriter that must date back to the Middle Ages. It M has to be the one Howell Lee Busick used in typing class. Jerry Cole's PLAIN ENGLISH HANDBOOK is among the old relics. It is quite worn out, but not from intensive study, I am sure. what have we here? lt is a stack of well-read letters bearing stamps from Germany. Of course, they must belong to Betty Baile y. Next is a broken flag pole. It looks as if Stephanie Woodson and Helen Roberts, our color guards, put it here to hide it from Mr. Moore. How did this old dilapidated French book get here 'P It must have belonged to that great French scholar, Phil Williams. Why, of all things! Here is a car fender. It is probably one of the many that Wayne Atwater picked up quite by accident. Harold Dunevant's drum major baton is lying beside the car fender. The baton is just a little bent. After all, he has been using it for two years to keep the band in line. My goodness, here is a sailor hat! More than likely it is the one Gayle Gardner stole from a navy man. What's this '? A picture of Harriet Milner alone 'P It must have been taken a long time ago. Nowadays, she has a constant male companion. Here is a stack of English vocabulary cards. Judging by the scribbly handwriting and strange definitions, I would say they once belonged to Bob Burts. This old test tube belonged to Pam Apple and John Crutchfield. They probably worked out some wonder- ful formulas in chemistry class. However, I doubt if very many of them pertained to chemistry. What is this doing here '? It is just a plain ordinary rock. No, it is not a rock, it is a biscuit baked by Barbara O'Bryant in Home Ec. Class. Why, here is a pair of identical bandages. They must have belonged to Tommy Childrey and Jerry Jarrell. It seems they bumped heads to see who had the harder - Tommy won. Daniel Shelton's trombone slide is in here. Clark Turner probablv stole it from him because it always jsee-med to find lodging in the back of Clark's head during band rehearsals. A A throat spray is here, too. Thomas Gunn used it to help keep his singing voice in good condition. Here is a complete wedding guide. It probably belongs to either Peggy Stewart or Francine Humphrey. The gavel Gerald Watkins used in Student Council is here near the bottom. I have heard he used it very effectively by planting it on the heads of rowdy Council members. There are many more interesting articles in our treasure chest, but I do not have the time nor the space to name any more. Some day, maybe, I can show them to you. A X9 Somers CLASS PROPHECY Reidsvi.l1e's huge new train depot is quite crowded on this very im- portant day. It is June 1, 1969, and the class of '59 has gathered here to welcome home one of its classmates. The trains are very crowded with the members of the class. Ah, who is that at Track 7 'P It is none other than Brenda Yount. She and her husband now own several huge cattle ranches out in Texas. Several other out-of-town members have just arrived. I see that Pamela Apple completed her piano concert in time to join us. Thomas Gunn, a mini- ster of music, is now approaching Pam. I suppose they wil.l talk of their days in the Glee Club. There's Jackie Bennett, who is making quiet a name for herself in the modeling world, although everyone always said she was too short. And,here comes Judy Matkins with her fifth husband, she always said she'd be a lone crusader against all vile things - men. Do you suppose she'll ever succeed with her crusade? The class of '59 even gave us one matador - that handsome Gene Smith. The music you hear in the background is rendered by Harold Dunevant and His Golden Notes. My, who is the handsome man stepping off the train with Betsy Young? She seems to have done quite well for herself as a psychologist at the Youth Guidance Center in New York. Many of our boys have made careers of the Armed Forces. Claude Davis has attained much success in the Navy. Tommy Childrey is a jet mechanic inthe U. S. Air Force and Jerry Jarrell is still pushing toward the top with this branch, too. Marvin Strickland, a general, has done exceptionally well in the Air Force. Doesn't Richard Jones look hand- some in his Marine dress uniform ? The girls who werewearing one ring in '59 are now wearing two. They are Ianthia Atkins, Peggy Stewart, Phyllis Branch, Glenna Saunders, Carolyn Barker, Glenna Chapmon, Linda Freeman, and Lois Martin. They are proudly boasting about their husbands, homes, and children. Above them all I can hear Brenda Saunders boasting about being Pee Wee's sole employee. Secretaries were quite plentiful in our class. Marie Allen, Peggy Meyer,Sally E. Brent, Virginia McCollum, Martha Brim, Peggy Joyce, Linda Combs, Joy Sue Joines, Shirley Durham, Sylvia James, Barbara Frye, Francine Humphrey, Pat Fulp, Rachel a.nd Betty Green, Betty Nichols,VivianStrickland, Camellia Olesen, Pat Dinky Welch, Pamela Poteat, Carolyn Rentz, and Mary Huskey are our secretaries. Also in the business world we find Annette Barker, Mike Winstead, Dave Kemp, Charlesana a.nd Mary Glenn Briggs. IOS CLASS PRGPHECY Our class is also represented by a fine group of nurses. They are: Ann Apple, Florence Stone, Gayle Gardner, Lois McKinney, Peggy Jane Pritchett, and Carolyn McCollum. Reidsville gained one doctor, Gary Dent, from our class. Many of our class members have rejoined the school system, this time as teachers. In the elementary school we find Lettie Branscome, Phil Williams, Leatrice Overby, Patsy Griffin, Beth Coleman, Ethel Ann Childrey, Betty Bailey, and Harriet Milner. Several of our classmates have filled positions at the high school. At Miss Wootton's desk we find Winston Haythe with his English handbook. Linda Lester, the French quiz kid, has taken Miss Frazier's place. In the Home Economics Department We find Barbara O'Brya.nt, and in the gym we find Helen Roberts giving the girls a pep talk and Pat Temple teaching the boys a new shot. Who's that principal? Why, that's Betty Brooks, the first woman principal at Reidsville High School talking to Harold Dunevant, band director. Five of our boys have made fine engineers. Bobby Bray is recognized for his engineering ability and it has been said that Billy Stanley is making 380,000.00 a. year. Jimmy Gilbert, Jimmy Cox, a.nd Benny Roberson have all done well in the field of nuclear engineering. Howell Busick, a lawyer, is busy campaigning for judge and Gerald Watkins, another lawyer, is running for senator. Loretta Canady and Mary Cliborne are talking the good old days over with Betty Jo Carter, a bookkeeper for Carter-Somers Radiator Shop. Loretta and Mary are the head beauticians at Mary Linda Somers' modern Look-Beautiful Beauty Salon. Betty Jo is commending Mary on the permanent that she gave Jean Graves, a local social worker. Charles Stanfield and Harold Cobb, forest rangers, have come down out of the hills tojoinus today. Why, there are our grease monkeys . Charles Corum owns a local mechanic shop, Ronnie Jones is a mechanic for race car drivers and Wayne Pegram is a diesel mechanic. I see that Jimmy Gibbs is trying to sell some of his advertising to his classmates. He's trying to interest Clark Turner, the manager of Turner's Sports- wear. Wayne Wall is trying to sell Stephanie Woodson, buyer for the store, a new ivy league pants for boys. Allen Gunn, the president of the Reidsville Plastics Company, is dis- cussing the growth of Reidsville with Ann Jones, manager of Link Brothers Pharmacy and Jesse Chip McKinney, the head pharmacist. James Wagoner, a research scientist, a.nd Wayne Atwater, a chemist at the plastics company, are trying to get into the conversation. Jimmy Joyce, the head santitarian of the Reidsville Health Department, is coming down the street with Highway Patrolman Richard Lester and Patrolman Daniel Shelton. Behind them are Ellis O'Bryant, a dairy farmer, and Jerry Stewart, anelectrician. They are going to join Gordon McKinney, presi- dent of Western Electric, and Bill Wray, an architect, who are discussing the plans for the new Western Electric. Here come two guys that have really been lucky. Jerry Cole's wealthy uncle died leaving Jerry an enormous forttme. He is now enjoyinglife to the fullest. With him is John Crutchfield, he seems to have done quite well as a professional bum. He's the best-dressed bum I have seen in a long time. What's all the excitement? Our guest of honor has finally arrived. Bob Burts is now stepping from the train. Will he ever be able to get off with all the crowds pushing him? Bob has attained his one desire to be asuccessful lover. His career as an actor gave him this and much more. I am going to join the crowds. Won't you go with me?
