My eyes have followed the shadows on the wall for hours and now are about to close. Ah. . . sleep. But a dream keeps appearing and dis- turbing my peace. It seems to be a vision! Who are you? Why are you here? I am Time and I am here to check on you. But why? What have I done? That is what I am he re to find out. I check on everyone to find out what they have done and what they have left undone. I also grant one reque st when I come to see you. What would you like me to do? lf you check on everyone, then youmust know all about what my c l a s s m ate s of 1955 have been doing since our graduation fr om Reidsville High School. I would like for you to tell me that. Well, as you probably would assume from the number of engagement rings when you last saw them. quite a few have married. Jeannie Galliher is happily married and lives in Oklahoma and lives with her husband in Georgia . There seems to ha ve been a demand for minis- ters since Peggy Jefferson,Joan Pegram,Pat Parrish, and Louise McCollum are minister's wive s. Gayle Hughes married her dream man about five years after she finished school. Living in G r e e n s b o r o happily rn a r rie d a r e Marsha Dixon, Joanne Jones, Arlene Marks, Rachel Paschal, R e b e c c a Bailey, and Alene Wilson. Nancy Moore and her husband now own and oper- ate a soda shop. Judy Swain, R e be c c a Turpin, and Margaret Tysinger live on huge ranches out west with their families. Then a few hea de d further west to California with their husbands. They were Carol To- ler, Mattie Blakely, and Joann Paschal. Nancy Stev- ens, Rachel McGehee a nd Barbara Driscoll chose to rear a family in their hometown of Reidsville. Shirlene Hall is now married, but in her spare time, she helps Audrey Madren out in her beauty shop. lt is said that their hair styles are the rage of Paris. Shelby Dill is the a uthor of several books on how to teach music . She and her h u s b a n d a r e constantly called upon to give lectures to college groups. Happy are the married! lam so glad that my old classmates have found happiness. But please con- tinue! It is amazing how well all of them did. Now let me think, who are some more? Oh,yes,Serena Hend- rix spend s most of her time abroad. She and her m ill io n a i r e husband are fond of traveling-. Harold Wray is recognized as an industrial relationist. There are many girls who made their careers as secretaries. Shelby Garner is Mr. J. Spencer Love's foreign secretary. She has been to all the South Am- erican countries. Louise Pritchett. Nancy Robertson, and Nancy Smith share a lush apartment in New York where they work as s e c r e ta r i e s . Out in California working for Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer a re Janice Trent and C. B. S., owned by Levi Stan- ley, would have to discontinue if it were not for Susie Blevins and Wanda Clymer and their services. Since Shirley Cobb and Ellen Strickland like Reidsville so much, they both are secretaries at the American To- bacco Company, which is owned by John Craddock. Frank Hooper is a ve ry successful C. P. A. in Reidsville. Reigning a s mayor of Reidsville is Alex Smith. The other city councilmen are Charles McKin- ney, Jerry Stanfield, Franklin Strickland, and Donald Chilton. They are busy every minute trying to make Reidsville a better city. It has really grown and Roy Mitchell has a responsible position as chief-of-police. One of the detectives, Ronald Apple, works along with Elvin Greene tracking down criminals. It is indeed wonderful to learn the successes of all these people. Do not let me interrupt you. Reidsville High School now recieves the teach- in g s e r v i c e s of Bonnie Gregory for English, Billy Manley for agriculture, Marion Varnon for business, and Wilma Ferguson for physical education. Mar- ga ret Lee Lester and Betty Briggs specialized inthe teaching. They collaborate in ope r ating a summer camp for handicapped children, which has r e c e iv e d national recognition. Two of the most s ucces sful have gone into the missionary field. John Young is in Africa as a medi- cal missionary and Walter O'Briant s pe c ia li ze s in working with the youth in Russia. Several of your classmates are making a c a ree r o ut of serving the country. These outstanding ones are M a rine Bobby Cooke, Cadets Thomas Chapman and Stephen Somers. David Amos,a general in the army, and jet pilot Don- ald McKinney. The medical field has been s e rved well by both doctors and nurses from the class of '55, On the staff of nurses at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore are Nola Morris,Nancy Sheridan,Jean Soyars, and Gladys Apple. Patricia Parrish heads a staff of nurses in Reidsville and B a r b a r a Wilkerson has made a suc- dessful nurse in a New York hospital. Joan Davis is a medical technologist in the same hospital. Robert Pritchett is interested in clearing the sl um s in New York, so he is a doctor there. Bobby Price and Nicky Hester have made names for themselves in the surgi- cal field. For a treatment of the mind, Benny Smith cannot be beaten. Leading experimenter onacure for cancer is Dr. Virginia Wilkins. It is so good to hear that so many are serving their fellowman. Tell me a bo ut some of the others now. There are manywho are e n t e r t a in ing others which is also important. You might turn on the radio any day and hear Walter Scott singing one of Buddy Smith's songs and accompanied by Mary Beth Stokes on the piano. Foremost in today's literary field are novelist Rosetta Jarrell, newspaper reporter Lamar Jolly, and Alvis Sapaugh, who is editor of the ATLAN- TA CONSTITUTION. Ronald Moore, a sportscaster, gives the best reviews on professional baseball play- ers John Knowles and Billy Ross, and professional football players, Charles Hoover, John Medley, Kelly Minyard, Willard Rumley, and Tommy Stanley. En- tertaining as a star of the ice capades is skater Jean Cobb. Cecil Dixon is one of the dare-devil helldrivers on his motorcycle. T he pictures painted by Betty Jo Trent are world known for their beauty. There are also quite a few businessmen and wom- en. Frances Kelly owns a tall girls' shop, with ex- clusive designers,Rebecca Pegram,Shirley Stone, and Doris Apple designing the clothes. Floyd Hough owns Roses' Dime Store and David Talley and Bobby Stanley own a g r o c e ry store with Wallace Warren head of the meat department. Owning their own businesses also a re Bobby Walker and Eu- gene Walker. Russell Palmer is c on sid e r e d th e country's greatest car designer. Designing the motors for Rus- sell's car is Melvin Smith. I am just so pleased with all my friends. There are others, aren't there? Yes, there are a few more. You know farmers are the backbone of the nation. James McKinney owns a dairy fa rm in Maine. Jimmy Cobb owns a ranch along with Rogers Madren, Bobby Dove, and J unior Stewart. Politics has also e nte red the picture. Doris Roach is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Diana Standahl is president of a law firm in New York.
