EIJ-ISS PBUPHEIIY It wos fifteen minutes before time for my clossmotes to orrive ot Ye Old Tovern for our closs reunion, but I hurried over to meet the proprietor, C Li Sounders, ond our hostess ond former president, Elizobeth Mitchell, As I hurried olong the street, I met Jimmie Woynick, whom I recognized os the fomous electricion whose inventions were moking him o notionol hero, Jimmie told me thot he would demonstrote his lotest invention, the photo- scope, for the entertoinment of our clossmotes ot the reunion, l-le soid thot he would be oble to let us look in upon those who were not oble to ottend our meeting, Since I hod been the closs proph- et, I wos oble to meet my fomous clossmotes os they come to the tovern from the dedicotion of our new librory. Chorles Scoggin come first. As governor of our stote, he wos os dignified os ever. Fronces Lee Foucette ond lvlory Boyd Rice come with him from his 'ggi office where they were his most voluoble secretories. Rodford Lewis told us thot he wos o certified public occountont, but he wos better known for his music. Lois Simon come from I-lollywood with her monoger, Chorles Bendoll. Buford Griffin wos o successful chemicol engineer in New York. Moc Allen hod undertoken the undertoking business. L ST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Senior Class of l939, of Rockingham County, of the State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and disposing memory, and realizing that our school days are about to close, do make, declare, and publish this-our last will and testament: FlRST: To Mr. Perry we offer our appreciativeness for inspiring us throughout our twelve years of educa- tion. To Mr. Lipscomb, with heartfelt thanks, We leave our kindest appreciation for his never-dying efforts in help- ing us through this, our last year of school. To Miss Baker, we express our most sincere thanks for her untiring help with French and the annual. To Miss Ratledge, we will the love and sympathy of the entire Senior Class. SECOND: To the Junior Class, we leave our title of Seniors, in hope that they will be as proud of it as we were To the Sophomores, we leave the courage 5 to press onward and see their task com- pleted. To the Freshmen, we leave our determination to push ever upward. THIRD: To Kathleen Cheek, Lucy Kiker leaves her prom-trottin '-with the assurance of many love-ly week-ends. Betty Throckmorton reluctantly departs with her in- cessant chatter by leaving it to Edgar Bray. To l-lortense l-laizlip, Genie McDonald wills her petite- ness. Marie McAdams and Lois Simon leave their athletic ability to Elsie Maynard. Billie Betts' title of Class Baby is left to Helen Smithy- Who-a-a-a-al Syble Ellington leaves her love to Grey Pettigrew. Juanita Carter wills her skating ability to anyone who thinks he can master it. The versatility of Betsy Lee Mayberry is left to Charles Anna Price. Margaret Burton's and Virginia l-lopper's appetites are left to Frances Fagg, with the hope that she will not over indulge. l-lelen McCollum's knack of being out of class is willed to Mary Lloyd Glidewell, knowing that it will not be discarded, but used to its best advantage. Margaret Jones leaves her capability to Robert Roscoe, assured of its not being abused. The lovely voice of Margaret Byrd is left to Anna Clark McDonald. Our budding artist, Jett Osborne, leaves her sketching ability to Roy Stallings. 'X Minta Price leaves, to anyone who would 1 care to use it, her little saying, it really do not matter. Todd Ferneyhough and Mac Allen's musical ability is left to the entire band. John McGehee's smoothness with the girls is left to Richard Clark. The soft voices of Evelyn Walker and Grey Waynick are left to Ruby Carter. The beauty spot of Margaret Glidewell, which all the girls have envied since the first grade, is left to Marion Robertson. G. W. Burgess and Raymond Goolsby will their athletic ability to T. Bone Smith. C. L. Saunders' slow but sure way is willed to Jimmy Mobley, knowing that he has need for it. Page Thirty
