1' yur'- S DEDICATION The class of 1973 dedicates our yearbook to you, Sister Maxine Simmer, O. S. B. Though your true chronological age is shrouded in mystery, your association with Regis High School goes back to 1948. When we think of you, we think of bunsen burners, sulfur dioxide, valences, Boyle's Law and calories. We are also reminded of some of your favorite quips. When giving a lengthy assignment, you often admonish the students to get on your ponies and ride. When students are not totally cooperative, your favorite threat is fifty lashes with a wet noodle. For more serious infractions you threaten, l'll land on you and make a grease spot out of you. Each September the legends about your strength and stamina are exchanged by incoming students. There is always some confusion as to whether your past is linked to boxing or wrestling. The story is oft repeated about the time you took a student at St. Pat's and un- ceremoniously hung him out the window by his heels. While blood rg,1shed to his face, you are reputed to have asked, Now will you be good? But the pictures on the opposite page show several facets of the person many of us do not know--the airplane pilot, the world traveller, the musician, the gardener, the collector of ceramic shoes, and the violin maker. This dedication is our way of thanking you for your dedication to Regis High School. 5
