PRESIDENT ' S MESSAGE St. Ignatius Loyola founded the Society of Jesus at a time when the Church was reeling under the onslaughts of its enemies; twenty years later, as the Saint breathed his last, the tide of heresy had been checked, and the banner of Christ the King was being borne from victory to victory. The great idealist, the practical educator had well deserved the encomium of Christ: Well done! Four hundred years later, we see the close of another year at Regis, another year of serious student endeavor inspired by the ideals and methods of Ignatius. Another graduating class assembles on the heights won by our Saint and his followers, heights which yield a clear view of the never-ending battle that goes on for the loyalties and the very souls of men. The objective before the graduates is that of the Soldier Saint: to accomplish God ' s Greater Glory, and to widen the sphere of Christian influence in a cynical and despairing world. Our graduates must feel, as did the youth of Ignatius ' day, that theirs is a very high and very bright ideal, one that inspires a passion and a determination to push through all obstacles and break through all barriers when Christ gives the signal to advance. Victory is as- sured; has not Our Captain promised? But hardships must be borne, and dangers braved, and wounds sustained. It is only thus that we, too, shall merit those blessed words: Well done, good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord. fcL (UsJ
