The hopes and dreams of teachers still reach out to their pupils, guiding them through a process which at its least is irritating. Are we all so far removed from members of the medieval university? Not really, though the emphasis may shift from time to time. The educational process - those words have a mechanized ring, suggesting images of classrooms with uniform students, thirty copies of a textbook caps, gowns and diplomas. Yet the goal of this concrete and abstract process is to initiate a search, to choose a path, to act wisely.
