In a microcosmic aspect Regis reflects the aura of change that has settled on our generation. Involvement and commit- ment have returned, for we have grown away from a self-im- posed introspection into the awareness of a fuller world. The Peace Corps established by the late President John F. Kennedy and foreshadowed by the Regis Lay Apostolate, is witness of the dedicated spirit of the new generation. Concern with the actualization of the American credo of individual rights, with civil rights in particular, reaffirms the individual’s desire to involve himself with his fellowman. This participation brings us to an awareness of a world made more accessible through a greater communication among men. Communication, whether it be with outer planets, political parties, or college seminars, has become the Gibraltar of almost all our modern thought. Moreover, the increasing ecumenism, exemplified by dialogues between faiths and the greater involve- ment of the laity in the work of the Church underscores this communication. At Regis College we have felt deeply the impact of com- munion in all spheres. Specifically, a greater communication has emerged between faculty and students. But of primary im- portance is a more intense fusion of students and administra- tion. Foremost in the materialization of this strengthened bond is our President, Sister Mary Jeanne d’Arc, who possesses a dis- cerning sense of tradition with the vision to welcome fruitful change. It is a joy, then, to dedicate the 1965 Mount Regis to our President, Sister Mary Jeanne d’Arc. Dedication 7
