Looking at that image there, it may be what others see or it may be what only you know. Before you in that looking glass is a person with certain goals and expectations in mind. As a motivated person you begin striding on your journey, the road to success. Before you get too far onto this road, fasten your seat belt. Smooth paths surrounded by buttercups and daisies are only a notion of fairy tales. This is a road of sharp turns, dangerous curves, and long dry stretches. There will be other travelers; some taking different directions, several continuing on with you and others who stop to rest along the way. Like buffers these relationships may shield you from the bumps and sideswipes that life will undoubtedly throw you. Yet, as a striving person, you will feel comfortable in a crowd. The shoving of others cannot delay you as your destination is in mind. After weeks of pounding the pavement and collecting pledges the day arrived- MARATHON 1985. On a crisp autumn morning participants gathered for a day of fun and fund raising. The result of October 5, was money collected in the amoung of $14,300. Top pledge collectors in each class were as follows: Senior Shannon Ellis, Junior Colleen Hoffman, Sophomore Jenny Busch, Freshman Mary Metzger, and Junior High Amy Busch. The Seniors were the top class in total amount, and the Seventh graders were top according to percentage. The Young At Heart A long standing and meaningful tradition at Regina is Grandparents’ Day. On November 1. grandparents were met by their granddaughters and ushered into the gym for a liturgy. Father Don Psche performed the liturgy which included a moving homily with the theme, “What is a saint? Being your best self,” and how handicaps are gifts. The chorus and liturgy club led the guests and student body in song. Following the liturgy, a continental breakfast was served. The Regina Ritz and Amy Alexander provided the entertainment. Time was also given for picture taking, sponsored by H. Larson, and a tour of the school. Again, this was a very special day. Halloween Horrors Halloween-the day the spooks come out, and they did at Regina. Ghosts and goblins roamed the halls, but never fear-Bat-man and Robin were there to save the day. Musical groups, punk rockers, clowns, and can-can dancers could also be found attending classes. What’s even more amazing is that these people were being taught by witches and wizards. On October 31, it may not be considered out of the ordinary, but the spirit and fun which the costumes added to the day were extra-ordinary. X ' Twas The Week Before Christmas Twas the week before Christmas And all through the school Spirits were bubbling We could hardly keep cool. First came decorations Up and down each hall. Thursday was Mass With Bishop Bullock and all. Friday brought parties, Singing and skits; Then home for the holidays Went Regina’s kids. Dancing With Daddy One of the favorite traditions at Regina is the annual Daddy Daughter Dinner Dance. This year the event was held on Saturday. February 1. The evening began with hors d'oeuvres followed by a sit-down dinner prepared by a troop of volunteer mothers. The daughters and their dads then danced 'til midnight (those that lasted that long) to the music of SUNNY. A new approach of inviting alumnae and their dads to attend the dance was tried. A number of recent and not-so-recent grads accepted the invitation. Foreign Affairs This year was International Week . On Monday, students feasted on icecream while sunning in their shorts. Tuesday brought a taste of Mexico northward. Europeans invaded Regina on Wednesday, and Thursday brought us back to a climate we’re accustomed to - Artie Day. Daily trivia questions brought prizes to those who answered them correctly. Student Council did a great job at adding a little spirit to the winter Blahs! M With these high standards how can they go wrong?! On May 31 at the Nicollet Island Inn, Emily Dolan will breathe a sigh of relief as she and her committee members see their hard work and planning pay off. Long hours of searching for a time and place and the many fundraisers have come to an end. The Juniors and Seniors have only now to find a date to dine and dance with at the Prom. They also help out at Regina open houses and other functions which serve to attract new students. It's their spirit and enthusiasm which draw new students to Regina. Through “jean-days”, the group raises money which is donated to worthy causes such as Oxfam and various shelters. Mindy Ahler Brooke AUobell Maureen Foley Mary Pat Loftus Lara D'Souza Erin Naughton . The story of ten people trapped on an island. One by one they are mysteriously killed off. In the end it is up to the detective to discover what has occurred. Such is life m yearbook. It begins with many people kindly volunteering. Suddenly, they begin disappearing: I've no ride home”. I've a dentist appointment I've got practice ... the list goes on. What is finally left are a few very panicky survivors. What will happen next? Will the yearbook be finished, or will the mysterious disappearances claim all the staff members? Yes and no. The lone survivors have worked: aside from slight mental deterioration and complaints of the constant presence of little blue squares, they are in tip-top shape. We now wish to thank those who kindly gave time and talent to help make this yearbook the best yet. H-Larson Photography the Casserly Family Dear Jessica, Congrats, Katie MOM DAD The land of make-believe is gone; The dolls with which she used to play Are sleeping high on closet shelves, For thus was childhood laid away. But time transforms a little girl By adding beauty, charm and grace, And gives to her that special role To make the world a better place. Now proudly dressed in cap and gown She clasps that all-important scroll. Her smiling eyes express the thanks For this — her long-awaited goal. To Tina Hoey Congratulations! May hope always be in her heart And all her happy dreams come true; Her zeal in serving others keep The joy of living shining through. We pray that life will treat her well And keep her helpful, kind and good, That she may justly claim the right To wear the crown of womanhood! Love, With all of our love.
