This all, October 3, 1978, to be precise, Regina's students, faculty, administration, parents, alumnae and the complete community faced a crisis. Archbishop John R. Roach and the stafa at the Catholic Education Center (CEC) announced they could promise no fananelal support to Regina, except far Individual student tuition grants. On October 10, there was an Open Forum In the gymmasiujm where fiaith ul supporters joined the student body and stafa far a three hour session o possibilities to be looked at and considered In order to come up with a plan by Vecmber 4, 1978. Sir. John Byron, President oA the Advisory Board, conducted the Open Forum with speakers Francis Scholtz, Archdiocesan Director oA Education and Thomas Hatcher, Catholic Education Center Consultant. By the end oA the evening many Ideas had been circulating and they were to be considered at the Task Force meetings. Task Force members spent two and a halA long months going to lengthy meetings which at tamos, ran to faur a week. Through tmany elaborate Ideas the Task Force, evolved now Into the Regina Coimmittee, worked with hundreds oA people far recruiting purposes and fand raising programs. Regina students eagerly helped plan and attended a lock-in far nearly 350 eighth grade girls. The present faculty and a group oA students and par-en!'s helped Roberta Turner with too open houses, ■two placejment tests, two evenings oA registration, 'ind her farever lasting cofafae parties. Mr. John Byron Mr. Francis Scholtz In betoeen all o the, the Regina Committee catne up with a plan and presented it to Archbishop Roach and the Archdiocesan Bdard oA Education. The work was done, but only far a short time as we zver so anxiously aLoaited the Archbishop’s decision which came to us three weeks afaer the presentation. The decision•• Regina could plan to stay open i£ sufalclent enrollment and fand raising premitted a balanced budget. As oA today, Regina’s drive has been a great success along with the recruitment far the class oA 1983. At thxs time all oA as Involved with Regina's Auture would sincerely like to express our gratitude to God and to all oA our AalthAul supporters Aor. helping to keep Regina alive to continue to educate today's students.
