Magic: any extraordinary or irresistable influence, mysteriously enchanting— captivating. Regina: a special place where magic grows, where unique people, unigue as mystical stars, come together to express how they are special. How are we special? We are special just in who we choose to be and in what we choose to do. There are many places left for us to explore, many risks to take to say that we are individua we are Regina, we are one, we are setting a light by the window of our growth and we are magic. Magic: something wonderful produced by the magician. Seemingly it is produced from thin air. Ahh, but it does come from somewhere, a very special and most significant somewhere. It is not always something to be touched or seen, but it does exist simply because people are magic in what they do for each other. They re magic in what they make of themselves. And when we stop co consider what it is that has gone before us, we see only the shadows of what we have cared for. Then we ask, what more is there to any place or person but this ove I hold for them? Wo dedicate this book to the Magic of each individual here at Regina-a place where individuality and acceptance need not be in conflict We have come to appreciate the Magic that grows when we share the secrets of our awesome selves. Wg have been challenged by Regina and now we are stronger. 6 FRESHMEN . . Talent Show . . . Daddy Daughter ... St. Pat's Day . . . Walrus love you . . . Study Skills: one, one. one. . . . The day's activities included entertainment, Christmas carols on the piano, the raffling of a quilt, Santa's workshop of handmade crafts, and Mrs. Claus' kitchen filled with lots of goodies. All of the Juniors' work helped to create a magical Christmas spirit in the halls of Regina. 48 Student Council There was so very much we wanted from Student Council this year, but surely that does not distinguish us from any other S.C. in any given year. They too must have had their idealistic fantasies and illusive aspirations. And so, what is there of magic in this year's S.C.? The magic to anything so full of ecstasy and yet so saturated with disappointments tends to obscure itself — hiding a-midst a wealth of emotional contusion. It does however, exist. For there is nothing less than magic about the power of the word by . Perhaps more than anything, that is what S.C. did this year: try. We co-sponsered the dance, which was held in the gym from 7:00-11:00, with Cretin High School. Everyone was in high spirits, boppin' to the music of the Rockin' Hollywoods. Language Fest The language festival this year was presented as an unusual variety show whose acts ranged from, Here's Johnny . to a visit from famous French detective Inspector Jacques Clouseau. Hopefully this show will become an annual event. 51 - NHS i Row 1: Ann Breitenbucher, Sue Plante, Ellen Michaels, treasurer; Kathy Huber, DeDe Johnson, .Mary Fran Laverdure. The fashions, modeled by students and teachers, were stunning; and the food, presented in many ethnic varieties, was superb. 55 Daddy-Daughter Dinner Dance 1 Approximately 550 Daddies and Daughters came together for an evening of dinner and dancing on February 13 in Regina's cheerfully decorated gym. The evening was sponsored by the Parents Club and the fantastic music was supplied by The Junction.” 56 Old Tyme Dance old tyme This year the Student Council, along with the Parent's Club, worked to--,-iher to coordinate Regina's FIRST Old Tyme Dance. The spirit of West Side Story started last November and on opening night, much hard work and dedication was rewarded by a sellout crowd and standing ovation. She is always there—jiggling a ring of keys in one hand and extending a welcome with the other She cheers at the games, organizes and bikes in marathons, hires bus drivers and even drives the activity bus herself on many afternoons. She manages the business office each day and remains to clean and lock up after dance, play, or prayer meeting. To attempt to list her contributions is a risk because she does anything that needs to be done to make Regina the best. Her big smile, little chuckle and warm personality make you love her even though you know she's a Green Bay Packer fan. Regina was fortunate to have her presence and talents for the past 5 years. Thank you Sister Aquin, for your dedicated service and God bless your future years She has never lost her own sense of wonder before the Universe and seeks to encourage this sense in those she touches — as teacher, as associate, and as friend. Her love of truth and knowledge has challenged us all to strive for real excellence in ourselves and to ask it of others. We are grateful for her. for not allowing us to be less than the best we can be. In one year Kathi Sell has brought a joyful celebrative spirit to Regina, touching us in many delightful ways — from the atmosphere in the Religion Resource Center to our grand Chinese dinner party. Kathi's love of people, her infectious laughter and playful heart have made us happier. Her intensity, scholarship, poetry, and prayer have called us to grow. As she leaves us to enter the Dominican Sisters, Kathi will keep Regina deeply within her heart. 68 Bob Harness, who arrived at Regina last fall, is supposedly a half-time teac her. But he spends more time at school than some full-time teachers. He has taught Spanish and Speech, helped a great deal in the Music department, worked extensively with actors in the Senior Class Play, helped with music for West Side Story, and has managed an advisory almost entirely composed of Freshmen (no small feat). He always shows concern for students, and has definitely made his niche in the Regina family. We will miss him and his smiling face — and even the snapshots of Tito, his cat. Ask students about Mrs. Bremhorst and you will hear the words kind, understanding, nice, or she expects the best of us. She combines extreme competence and talent with a very warm manner. We have been touched by her magical qualities of kindness and gentility. Sister June's presence during her 9 years at Regina has encouraged students and faculty to live lives centered around the message of the Gospel. Her warmth, availability, generosity and concern for the needs of students have made her a valued member of Regina's community. Sister June is an innovator, she believes in the importance of students as agents of social change and in their role as leaders in building the future. She has helped to develop an interest in peace and lustice education. Her contacts with Twin Cities organizations have enriched her classes and brought everyday living into the high school setting. 6 Seniors lane Bedor Memories—Getting licensed—driving everywhere—Sadie— Teen King—Daddy Dances—Harrys—18-Chorus trip—PBR!
