Mary I ouise Bell. For weeks after her death, this name was repeated over radio and television and was printed in the newspapers, hut whut was Mary really like? Those of us who knew her remember Mary as a girl who loved to laugh. She possessed an exuberance and optimism for living which only some of the young seem to have. We remember her pretty face with its arched eyebrows and thick eyelashes. A navy-blue skirt and sweater, with loafers, were classic examples of her casual dress. Like us she loved basketball games, dances, parties, and ''Puff the Magic Dragon. Besides her love for what the world offered, Mary also loved her God. The evening of her death she went first to Mass, and then to her babysitting job. Later that evening. when death came to her. she once again turned to Him. crying out. Oh my God. help me . As we graduate we find that Mary Bell, through the Communion of Saints, is with us in spirit, still a member of the class of 1965. May she rest in peace.
