Dedication: Sister Conrada Sister Conrada Schneider has been one of Re- ginais most devoted teachers since 1929. In teach- ing Math, English, and German, Sister has dem- onstrated her thorough and interesting skill in instruction. Sister was born in Ottoholfen, Germany and came to America in 1907. She taught grades one through six for twelve years, and was the first principal at SS. Peter and Paul School before joining the faculty of Regina. Retired now, Sister Conrada enjoys spending much of her time caring for flowers. Her former students lovingly recall her classes and her fa- mOus fudge which she makes at Christmas time, The class of 570, one of the last classes to bene- fit by your tremendous teaching, dedicates this ANCILE to you, Sister Conrada. E... F.. m :i . . Ijourneyed back in time last night, Past crumbling ancient rituals with their words of days long gone, Over the barriers of fallen creeds covered with mosses, Around the stony forbidding answers of a cold theology. A small group ofus searched our way through twenty centuries of history: And we were there! Christ was there as our brother and God as our loving Father. Our tiny chapel with its unadorned walls must have looked Like some secret places where the early Christians met The hymns we sang came not from books but from words written on our hearts. The scriptures we read were poems and letters about people now. Our ritual was spontaneously created as we were led ofGodis SpiriL Our prayers were not tired cliches Repeated many times until Like a rusty knife they have no edge to cut into our souls. Our prayers were made of words that burned like fire. Retreat Speaking of real people real lives real needs We talked things over with God. Things like the inhumanity of war, the stupidity of bigotry and selfishness, the mysteries of love and marriage in a loveless world, our own selfishness when we leave these problems for others to solve. A handclasp and a kiss of peace were given, And we knew how the early church had feared no foe when cradled in such earnest ties of love. A blessing leaped from lips to hearts, iiMay the peace OfChrist be with you ,. A and you . . . and you . . The following is an excerpt from Father Thomas Maherls homily at Sueis Funeral Mass: Christmas is a time for joyful get-togethers with loved ones 7 and we experienced a painful separation from a dear friend, and a wonderful classmate Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ 7 and we suffered the death ofa Christian. Christmas celebrates the beginning of a tremendous life of love on the part of God for Man 7 we witnessed the con- clusion, and the fulfillment of a beautiful life of love for God and us on the part of Sue. Christmas was yesterday and Easter will be tomorrow. Sue did not look back. She looked forward. Her senior year was to be the fulfillment of three underclass years of promise and anticipation. She looked forward to a reun- ion with her boyfriend, home from the army for the heli- days. She looked forward to the prom, if he could be with her. And surely, she looked forward to graduation. And now strangely, unexpectedly, Sue has graduated 7 not Suels senior classmates solemnly attend a Mass offered for here Susan A, Haberthier so much from Regina as through Regina High School 7 through her teachers, through her friends and most of all, surely, through her wonderful family. Through us all she has graduated to a new and greater life. Our feelings of intense pain are underlaid with an intense faith. We feel the pain of separation, but we believe in Sueis union with the Christ ofChristmas and Easter. We feel the sadness of death, but we believe in a life, not ended, but changed, a graduation to a new life 7 an ever- lasting one. We feel a love in our lives extinguished, but we believe that the love Sue gave us in this life lives on in us. It is now our responsibility to keep it alive, and to that extent Sue will always be with us. Christmas is a time for giving of gifts. 0 Lord, we give back to you a gift you have given us for these 17 years. And for the gift of that time with her we thank you, Lord, Senior Da y 5-20-70 8 AM 7 Sun 7 French and Fenwick Parks 7 Cafeteria Wait 7 The Great Cookie Sale 7 Smoke in the Bathrooms 7 Senior Farewell 7 Picnics on the lawn 7 Last Day7 Last Day 7 Glorious Last Day. You are basi- cally very independent, but dull at times. A Taurus or a Virgo would make the best companion for you. As a Capricorn, once in love you become anchored and harmonize with your lover. When your iove passes, you experience every degree of loneliness. Your life changes, offering a new lover; and you demonstrate your genius in love by completely forgetting yesterdays romanccr Valerie Andrews Jacquelyn Hickey Claire Kiffmcyer 126 Michelle Fischer Judith Kruse Jean Hammond Catherine Mauchcck Valerie Newbill Patricia Purdy AQUARIUS Born as an Aquarius, you are inclined to be very philo- sophical. In relation to others, you prefer to live and let live. Your worst trait appears to be your 'ability to connive. Those under Gemini and Libra offer the best compatibility for you. Where love is concerned, there can always be room for change. An Aquarius fails in love quickly and easily, with- out thoughts of yesterday. In love and marriage, your first demand is friendship. Actively, you are drawn to dancing; yet you are often preoccupied with daydreams. Your close friends should be of Cancer and Scorpio. Love comes easily to you; you are loved before you love. Aware of your ability to attract people, you lure them into love by your mysterious glory. With this tremendous advantage, you prove to be a born leader and empire-builder. Your main fault seems to be that you are domineering. Look to persons under Leo and Sagittarius for companions. The stars reveal that you do not wait for love; you fall in love quickly and inform the person with the same speed. Love builds your ego and makes you a better per- son, but beware of becoming overly confident, 131 Susan Haberthier Christine Schone 132 Beverly Bailey Regina Bohannon Marianne Gapinski Susan Hoffmann Marilyn Bamber Kathryn Femeyer Barbara Hawkey Joyce Karwisch Eileen Kob Beverly Romes Tamas The stars show that those born under the sign of Tau- rus are extravagantly sensual and especially attracted to luxuries. Though at best you are brilliant, so also you can be very temperamental. A Virgo and Capricorn would be your best bets for friendships.
