SUIIBDKTENDIBT REFUGIO , TEXAS To The Graduates of 1957: It is with pride that we point to the many accomplishments of the Graduating Class of 1957. This annual will show the scoreboard tallies of the various ath letic encounters, but in addition to the fine record shmm we would like to commend you for the fine character and training you have dis played throughout. The scores you cannot take with you but your ex- cellent quahties of clean sportsmanship are a personal possession for life. Our band has been the pride of all Refugio for many years. The gain from your intensive training and instruction has been two fold. We have had many hours of enjoyable entertainment. You have bene- fitted from your increased knowledge of music and your appreciation for the finer arts. You really came through in the academic phases too. Refugio won many honors in District and Regional Intex-scholastic Meet com- petition. We are confident that the State Meet will have the names of many Refugio students on its award list. There have been many times when you felt that you were working too hard on your studies, but now that you have attained the goal don't you feel that it has been worth far more than you have put into it? With this first taste of the knowledge available to all of our youth through free public schools, do not let your thirst be quenched. Drink freely from the fountain of learning offered to you through our colleges and universities. Be fully prepared to perform your ILife's duties. Good luck to each of you. Si-Digi, f ,I I K . . Awww I-I.F. Adrian President of the Board SUPERTNTENDENT To The Students of Refugio High School: The pages of a high school annual tell the story of a single year in your lives, but, more than that, they tell us something of what you are and what you will be- come. Those of you who have had the responsibility of editing and publishing the Bobcat Chant will long since have learned that your assignment is a serious and challenging one. Therefore, in accepting this additional responsibility, you have achieved a success which might have discouraged people of much greater ex- perience. This book, then, while it is published for the entire student body, is in my opinion a tribute to the members of the staff, to those who are willing to do more than lust enough. When in future years you glance through this book I hope you will remember the difficulties you overcame to make possible its publication. The 1957 Bobcat Chant will then serve as an inspiration in your efforts to overcome the problems and difficulties confronting you through the years. lf you face each new problem with the determination and spirit you have shown this year, with a willingness to do more than lust enough, you need have no fears for your eventual success. Sincerely yours, sb . X'-A41-'L L J. Lyle i-im PRHNCHPAL QMS Vision is a powerful force for good-a vitally needed human power. Vision is an essential ingredient for successful leadership. lt plays a maior role in every phase of useful human endeavor-from the harmonious functioning of a home to the successful operation of a business enterprise and on to the skillful manage- of l if tgrzjyment of government and all its many facets. The Bible, emphasizing the importance itil of vision, forcefully says, Without vision the people perish. The gift of vision is a most important asset and when you add the courage to act, you have a winning combination Few accomplishments remain impossible to an inspired leeder who has vision and the courage to act. N l-'Jr lf you, as high school students today and leaders of our country tomorrow .lf l ,xl wish to succeed as leaders, you should strive to get this great asset. You should ,feel it, be led by it, lead with it-that is the all-important thing. And put on the strong armor of courage as you fight to reach your worthy goals. The man with vision is the determiner, the enthusiast, the winner. The leader with vision first wins the battles within his own mind and heart. MZAW 1 l l l l l fl l . V AGU!-TY 7 +5 H. A.
