Engineers are a special breed of people, men with a deep sense of pride in their ability to operate and maintain ma- chinery under conditions which would seem frustrating, if not impossible, to other peo- ple. The department is divided into two divisions. M division is responsible for the ship's main propulsion plant, a job requiring long hours, hard work, and a high degree of technical skills. R division personnel provide the skills required to operate and maintain the innumerable pieces of mechanical and electrical auxiliary equipment required for the REEVES to function as a self-sufficient floating city. The men of the engineering department are all professionals, dedicated to doing their jobs and doing them well, 7,.f4 X LCDR Christenson, the o1d BOSS
