The Reedsburg Beavers moved from a slow start to a conference championship. After two nonconference losses to Rich- land Center and Oregon, the teams high hopes were somewhat dimmed. Then a close victory over tough Baraboo got the team moving and they did not face an- other loss until well into the state playoffs. As undisputed conference champions, they earned the right to defeat Milton soundly in playoff action but then fell to a future state championship Two Rivers team. After season awards included Bob Bessert being named to an All State team and Den- nis Haefer, John Utley, Todd Harrison and Bessert being named all conference. MVP was Dennis Haefer, Best Lineman was Tom Daly, and Best Defense was Bill Toudot. Most Tackles award to Charle Schlough and captains were John Utley, Bill Tourdot, and Todd Harrison. 21

Boys' Cross Country Boys Cross Country: Don Farrar, Kirk Briggs, Jim Farrar, Bart Bartells, Mike Ross, Rick Cathcart, Mr. Whit- sell, Coach. Cross Country Freshmen Lead Girl's Team Girls' Cross Country Girls Cross country team: Mr. Chuck Whitsell, coach; Lori Dischler, Colleen Wells, Kris Gron- ley, Lori Beth, Lisa Blue, Lori Ketter, Janell Repka, Debbie Koehler, Re- nee Schutz, and Barb Kosak. Webb High's cross country teams ended their season at Dodgeville with the girls tied for third and the boys placing tenth. Rick Cathcart, Renee Schutz, and Debbie Koehler made all conference with Rick placing seventh, Renee placing third and Debbie sec- ond at the conference meet. Debbie Koehler and Renn Schutz continued their season in AAU competition. 23
