Girls’ Varisty Basketball Team: Front Sue Me Kay, Julie Meyer, LuAnn Hasz, Cheri Schrank. Bonnie Owen, Cynthia Anerson, Row 3: I.inda Champagne, Cindy Messerschmidt, Ann Borleske. Chris Schiefelbein, Peggy Haefer, Karla Hammer, Debbie Getsch- man, and Coach Dave Laulainen. Basketball $ Junior Ann Borleske lead the girls’ basketball team in scoring with a nearly 20 point per game average through the first 7 games. In mid January the team posted a 3-4 record having scored victories over Mauston, Sparta, and Adams, The young team in- cluded starters Sue MacKay and Julie Meyer at guards, Ann Borleske and Karla Hammer at for- wards, and Peggy Haefer at center. Entertainment by the pep band and pompon squads added spirit to games which sported imp roved spec- tator attendance. With a young but improving team, the girls were anticipation a good second holf of the seas on. Junior Ann Borleske, the Beavers’ leading scorer attempts a shot. 27
