Social Studies English Four social studies teachers, each specializing in his own particulararea of interest taught the freshman social studies surxex class during 1973-1974 ear. The same teachers also taught a variety of senior courses in manx of the same special areas. Sophomore and junior students continued in histo- rx courses with simulation games being featured as learning aids. A minorities unit, complete with minority group speakers was an im- portant part of Sophomore English. Units emphasizing communication and also independent studx kept ju- niors busy. A new course in drama provided still more varietx for seniors and two journalism sections worked hard to assemble a month! y new s paper. Mathematics Science Two continuous hours of class on alternate days made environmental science into much more of the labora- tory class that Mr Popple had intend- ed. Field trips were much easier to schedule and more valuable. The science department also wel- comed new chemistrv and physics in- structor Mr Sivam Mr Boone s practical chemistry continued a favor- ite as students experimented with a variety of concoctions of the house- hold nature. Spring income tax filing deadlines kept senior consumers mathematics students busy. Freshman general math students used new paper bound text giving many opportunities for experiments.
