The English and social studies departments were characterized by cooperation in 19 2 and 1973. Sophomore English teamed with social stud- ies for a Roman history unit while studying Julius Caesar in English. Their Minorities unit featured two race relations education special- ists as speakers. For the first, time, a social studies make-up course was offered and taught by Mr. Riber- ich. A new course in the English department was dramatics taught by Miss Davis. A new game called Enterprise gave the so- cial studies survey students a chance to devel- op a simulated economy right in the classroom. MATHEMATICS SCIENCE DEPARTMENTS The science department welcomed a new chemistry and physics teacher, Mr Dennis Eriksen. His physics class en- joyed a field trip to the planetarium at Madison Memorial High School. Practical chemistry and environmental science continued as favorites for fulfill- ing science requirements. General mathematics students enjoyed an assortment of experiments using six new mathematics books. Paper balances and pendulums were suspended from student desks and manipulated with paper clips. Taxes characterized consum- er math class as April 15th approached. Deb Miller. Cheryl Happle. and Maureen Miller arrange paper clips on a balance for an experiement in general mathematics.
