Language, the Cornerstone of Civilization Chaos. That is what our world would be without language. If no one could speak or write, our homes would be caves in the hills, our pencils would be burly clubs, and our only way of expressing ourselves to others would be to clout them over the head. Add language to our lives and we name a keen insight into the history, character, thought, and accomplishments of our fellow-man, a sure way to express ourselves in all studies throughout our lives. And our language courses, too, are in keeping with our cosmopolitan age. Besides basic English courses, we have Latin, Spanish, and Speech, plus a fourth year of Eng- lish. Forensics and play production have been added as activities, and just this year we welcomed a new member to our multilingual family-French. PETER HAFNER-English I, Orchestra B.
