SENIOR- CLASS HISTORY Our first memory of high school days dates back to September 8, 1953 where we were thought of as a class for the first time. Remember how we entered into the swing of things and showed our spirit by winning first place in the Home- coming yell? As officers we chose Joe Tourdot, president, Pat Cassity Smith, vice-president, Carol Curtin, secretary, and Linda Mielke, Jim Bill, Gordon Thies, and Bud Wilcox as loyalty representatives. As sophomores, we again showed our school spirit—this time by having three of the varsity cheerleaders coming from our class and also the four majorettes. Terry Meyer was elected president, Fred Peper, vice-president, and Phyllis Schyvinck, secretary-treasurer. Ruth Ann Gundrum, Laurie Olson, and Jim Bill were chosen to represent us on the Loyalty Council. Choosing class rings was the first note of excitement in our Junior year. Probably the biggest event was our Prom, Moments to Remember over which Jerry Spohnholz and Donna Churchill reigned as king and queen. Towards the end of the year we chose Ruth Ann Gundrum to attend Badger Girls State, and Jim Bill and John Temte to attend Boys State. To climax the year, we won Loyalty and our president, Jim Bill accepted the trophy for us. The other officers were Jim Geffert, vice- president, Catherine Schreve, secretary-treasurer, and Arleen Speich, Ruth Ann Gundrum, Carol Curtin, Judy Kohlmeyer, Judie Mundth, and Laurie Olson, loyalty representatives. To guide us through our senior and final year at R.H.S., we elected Jim Bill, president, Jerry Spohnholz, vice- president, and Donna Churchill, secretary-treasurer. Leading the Homecoming Dance as king and queen, were Bill Burmester and Sue Baumgarten. Other memories of our Senior year are of the Class Play and the excitement of graduation. We will be the last class to see Freshmen enter the old High School which is picture above. 24

The Juniors managed to take first in skit. Our class rings finally came. Then followed weeks of exciting plans for Prom, which was a huge success forall. The Loyalty Banquet was the last event in this year of memories. See us in the '58 Gleaner for the conclusion of our story. 26
