As upper classmen the Juniors of 57” returned to school look- ing forward to another success- ful year. The important decision of choosing class rings, was reached in October, and finally in the latter part of December they arrived. There are many boys and girls that are demonstrating their ability in musical and athletic fields by the large number tak- ing part. Senior Class History On September 7, 1953, we entered the halls of R.H.S. as lowly Frosh. The Seniors were surprised at our quick recovery after our initiation dance, as we easily walked away with Homecoming. We chose Dawn Lingard Cassity, class president, Don Mayfield Jr., vice-president; Delores Grosklaus, secretary-treasurer; and Dick Schroeder, Ronald Owen, and Helen Hamburg our Loyalty representatives, to lead us. Our size was both a help and hindrance to us as we ran away with magazine sales, only to end up fourth in Loyalty. As industrious Sophomores, we became real competitors for the Loyalty trophy. We chose Don Mayfield, president; Larry Droes, vice-president; Betty Cassity, secretary-treasurer; and Carol Vogel, Karen Erickson, and Teresa Horkan Loyalty representatives. Once again we succeeded in taking the two points for magazine sales, and proved we were better able to compete for Loyalty, for now we moved into third place. As Juniors, our race for the Loyalty Trophy began immediately when we took top honors for our skit and cheering at Homecoming. The officers for our Junior year were Larry Droes, president; Gerald Blakeslee, vice- president; Monica Scoon, secretary-treasure; Alberta Gall, Elaine Schulenberg, and Angie Gerber Loyalty repre- sentatives. The choosing of our class rings and Prom theme caused a bubble of excitement within the halls of R.H.S. We selected Gerald Blakeslee our Prom king, who with Virginia Mielke, his queen, reigned on his South Sea Isle in the South Pacific. Admidst all this activity we managed to advance to second place in Loyalty. On graduation day we will fondly recall all the memories we shared. There was rarely a moment without some surprising, exciting occurence. As Seniors we elected the following officers: Louis Pingel, president; Fred Harmeyer, vice-president; Pat Mundth, secretary-treasurer; Alberta Gall, Ronald Thies, and Regnald Werth as Loyalty representatives. They have done an excellent job in paving the way to the moment when the familiar strains of the Alma Mater are heard, and the class of 56” in caps and gowns, look forward to the future. In all our activities we found Mr. Lynett, our faculty advisor, most helpful and inspiring. We owe him a great deal and want to express our sincere appreciation for his efforts in our behalf.
