i -4- L73 -V..-fu N I 1 ia., Tiger Country Track Four returning veterans formed the nucleus of the 1974 track squad. Coach Bob Lehman and his assistant, Norbert Larsen, fielded three times as many track athletes than just a year ago. Triple jumper Jon Taplac and distance runner Manuel Hernandez were to be workhorses of the squad. Both hold school records in their specialties. Taplac participated in the long jump, the 440 and mile relays. Returning javelin-discus thrower Tom Bartow joined Sylvester Taylor to lead the weight crew. Other weightmen were Curetis McNealy, Dave Morton and javelin thrower Mark Hooper. Lonnell Perkins, a freshman from Clovis, hoped to challenge team captain Taplac in the triple and long jump events. Greg Lane, a freshman from Mc Lane, rounded out Tiger long jumpers. Brooke Hamilton, Dinuba, and Randy Willems, Immanuel, were performers in the high jump. Todd Spalding, from Sacramento, was a pole vaulter and hurlers were Bob Brinkley, and Tim Eaton, both graduates of Dinuba High School. Freshmen Ricky Morris, Fresno, and Jimmie Islas, Reedley were Tiger sprinters, while Alan Kawakami, a cross country veteran from Reedley, will back up Hernandez in the distance events. Head track Coach Bob Lehman makes a point with freshman Jaime Eusto and Assistant Coach, Norbert Larsen. 1 Ilwl' V! il. 1 V.
