IU RETROSPECT On May 30, 1940, eighty-nine voyagers set sail on the good ship Reed-Custer for a nine mnnth'e tour on the sea of knowledge. Now'the voyage is ended. DY the original crew, eighty-three have safely re- turned to port. Six members--Robert Borik, Michael Skowronski, Raymond Tryner, Eileen Frank, Marcella Barksdale, and Sybella Tucker--were lost overboard amid the perilous storms that threaten the success of such an undertaking. Three additional members, however, Dolores Goetz, Dorothy Beith, and Arthur Tomplin, were picked up at sea in the middle of the voyage. Thus the crew numbered eighty-six souls at the last roll-call. Eighteen senior members have made their last trip. They have completed their training and will now set sail on new seas of endeavor. The re- uninder of the crew will return in September for another venture into the unknown deeps. To those hardy souls who leave us--to Clemer, Don- rld, Earl, Edythe, Frances, George C., George T., Jennie, Joseph, Lor- raine, Lillian, Pearl, Raymond, Richard, Rose L., Rose S., Shirley, and Thomas--we say nBon voyagen on your new adventures. Yes, the voyage is ended. we have had our happy moments along with, it is true, our misfortunes and disappointments. Life must go on, however, so we will keep our fares forward, and take with us only those happy moments to live in our remembrance. Set a true course, oh helmsman, a new voyage will soon be starting The Captain of the H. S. Reed-Custer The time has come for us, the members of the Student Council, to write the last word in this, the 1941 yearbook of the Reed-Custer Town- ship High School. we sincerely hope that its pages will bring you many enjoyable thoughts of the past school year, and give you something to treasure through life. If our humble efforts have contributed to that end, we will be am ly repaid for our labors. The Student Council i 1 1' A ., ' M ' -'S 1 .:-51? 'L 5 Q 7- 2' 4' ' 1 7 6 -- U W9 QM? I YW 7 -Eg 6j..
