I N R.E T'R O S P E C T The.yean3 1939 and l9hO, has passed into the realms of other years that are gone but not forgotten. This yearbook has been an humble effort to preserve for posterity those things and events which live on in our memories. It is hoped that all who gaze upon these pages will find enjoyment and remembrance through the coming years. THE STUDENT COUNCIL September found ninety-seven travelers enrolled at Reed-Custer for their trip along the road to knowledge. Ralph Klecha suffered xcute motor trouble near the middle of the year and was forced to abandon his travels. Anthony Banks grew tired of the route and de- serted to join another band of wayfarers at Plainfield. Edythe and James Clemens, however, two members of the traveling troupe at Joli- et Township High School, came to join us at mid-year, and to take the place of those departed. Rose Skrowronska was another who join- ed us for the last half of the trip. Robert Borik deserted the car- avan at midtrip to attend Harrison Tech of Chicago. Motor trouble forced James Clemens to give up the journey, but the trip was fin- ally completed with the entire group almost intact. We sincerely hope that those who return to make still further travels in Reed-V Custer will enjoy a highly successful experience. Fall baseball wasquite interesting because of the experi- mentation and jungling of players. . . The high spot of spring base ball was the pitching duel between Laurence Pomatto and Peecher of Gardner, which good old R-C won 1 to O. . . The basketball season was an up and down affair--we took it on the chin as often as we gave punches, but still came in third in both conferences. . . tNe were beaten in the District Tournament for the first time in four years. . . The ping-pong fad died out this year. . . Dancing on the stage by both boys and girls was introduced for the first time. . . Another typist, Irene Mulligan, reached the Sectional Tournament at morris this spring. . . A change of adndnistration caused the good ship Reed-Custer to be steered by a new captain and new members of the crew--result--many changes of custom and time schedules--some more convenient. . . We expect more records to be broken next year. THE STUDENT COUNCIL
