CLASS COLORS Blue and White CLASS FLOWER Carnation CLASS OFFICERS President ........ Joe Morris Vice-President . Russ Gerber , . . . Betty Hafer r ....... Milly Kienitz Secretary Treasure Student Council . ShirlRoberts, Jane Morris 16 Cfaaa .Mafory The Class of 1951 first started scurry- ing through these memorable halls as fresh- men just four years ago. At last we were high-school students and chose as our class officers Dave Benkert, Jack Hart, Shirley Roberts, andBetty Hafer, Many things were new to us, but somehow we presented an assembly to the high school in the form of a play, 'Call Hector . By that time we be- gan to think we were big stuff and our ego was further inflated when our all-school dance, the 'Turkey Trot , turned out to be a success, The next year we were known as sopho- mores and we began to think about earning money. By selling refreshments at a foot- ball game and a basketball game Cfollowed by a dancej, we witnessed the growth of our treasury. Our officers for the year were Dave Benkert, Russ Gerber, Jack Hart, and Betty Hafer. Apparently our assembly of the previous year had left an impression for we presented another play called 'Last Night's Paper . Our all-school party came in the fall as can be guessed by its title, 'Hunters' Ball . Then by some queer quick of fate we were Juniors! Finally we were part of the 'upper crust , Our new officers were Joe Morris, Shirley Roberts, Betty Hafer, and Milly Kienitz. We sold minature footballs, refreshments at the games, and greeting cards during the holiday season. Bake sales and candy sales were a common occurrence. The annual all-school party was given in January, It was decided to have something different and unusual for our as sembly. The name attached to it was Helzapoppin , and it was just that. Our dramatic careers were enlightened and our treasury swelled by the presentation of our Junior play, 'The More the Merrier . Preparations for the Banquet and Prom occupied our thoughts and actions for quite a while before May 12, We made palm trees, love seats, rainbows, and pots of gold. Our theme was 'The Rainbow's End' and overhead in the gym was a huge rainbow with a spotlight on it while the or- Compliments of I-IANSEN'S READY -TO-WEAR .jf chestra occupied the pot of gold. The Ban- quet which preceded the Prom came as a relief after all the hard work. Refreshments were served at the Prom and the evening ended with a spirited grand march. Then the magic year. We were Seniors! Suddenly we realized that this would be our last year together and soon all these won- derful events would onlybe memories. The officers we elected were Joe Morris, Russ Gerber, Betty Hafer, and Milly Kieniti. Our objectives as Seniors were our Senior trip and graduation. We sold pencils and held numerous bake sales. As a grand fin- ale to all we had previously achieved on the stage, we produced Here Comes Charlie . Then came the last big dance we would give --the Christmas Ball, Again we worked hard and the finished product was indeed a magnificent one with cedar boughs tied with big bows, red and green streamers, Christ- mas trees and lights, and--mistletoe. Feb- urary and March brought Government Day held at R.C.H,S. and Career Day at Evart. In March we gave our last assmebly, This time it was dignified and consisted of tal- ent of the class. One of the few remaining big events, the Banquet and Prom, came upon us quite suddenly on May l 1. It seem- ed good to have someone treat us, but we realized all the work that had gone into it and enjoyed it thoroughly. The day of de- parture for the Senior trip finally arrived in May, and whenwe returned from Chicago via Holland, we were all very tired but in- deed inspired. Arrayed in our gowns, the girls in white and the boys in blue, we marched into the Baccalaureate Service on May Z7 feeling extremely proud. Graduation brought us a much different feeling, however, and as we left the school taht night on May 31. we realized how much our high school days really meant to us. 64155 pI'0l0AeCg DAVE BENKERT is touring the country lec- turing on 'Child Care .
