'Friendship loses all of its sacredness and meaning when you make of it nothing but a ladder on which to climb and that you kick down behind you when you have risen to the top.' Dorothy Dix The publishing of the nCoyote' is a tribute to the Class of '49, who revived the annual after a lapse of many years. It is my hope that in years to come you will look back through these pages and recall the hours of happiness and the many friendships that were yours while attending R.C.H.S. It is further hoped that your experiences here have been worthwhile and that they will aid you in taking your place in society. Earl C. It seemed great to be called Freshmen, and not mere Sth graders anymore. It took a few weeks until we settled down enough to elect officers: Don Pease was chosen Presidentg George Beech, Vice-President, Herbert Buttles, Secretary, Bill Hornby, Treasurer. The big event of the year, of course, was the party we gave entitled WIggy's Igloon. We started our Sophomore year with a bang by electing the follow- ing officers: President, Bill Hornby, Vice-President, Betty McDadeg Secretary, Bonnie Ohmang Treasurer, Eleanor Borsum. One of the first moments in our Sophomore career was having our first all school party, which was called WThe Gay Ninetiesn. Not only was the dance music inviting to our ears, but, anticipating the financial needs of our Junior year, the tinkle of clinking coins at the door was also very pleasant to hear. The dreaming classmen. Monday after Labor Day, 1947, we swarmed into the building of what was ahead for us as real honest-to-goodness upper- As election time rolled around again, the following officers were chosen: President, Ben Chuppg Vice-President, Carlton Lindnerg Secretary, Myrtle Boyerg Treasurer, Margaret Baderschneider. We then set to work making plans for the gayla event of the Junior Play entitled WStar Light, Star Brightn, which helped to enhance our eager, but meager treasury. In January, many people were wondering nwhy the rush down town from school?n, but we knew, didn't we!! It was our class rings. After receiving them, we proudly displayed them to everyone we met, even though our pocket and it was our turn to lot of hard work. The water scene, with fish a whale's mouth from which punch was served. Just before school was out, we elected Margaret Baderschneider as President, Wayne Miller, Vice-Presidentg Eleanor Borsum, Secretary, and Myrtle Boyer, Treasurer. books were empty. Then Graduation for the Senior give them a Prom. It was a lot of fun, but a gym was no longer a gym, for it was just an under- swimming all over the ceiling. We even had After having the doors widened a bit to permit the entrance of our noble heads, we returned to school in the fall of 1948 as Seniors. A Again our itching fingers were reaching for money to go into our grow- ing treasury. nHandy Mann was presented and was reported by many to be the best play produced here in many years--outside of the Junior Play that we gave last year, of course. We chose our colors to be yellow and white. Our gowns were blueg our motto, WKnowledge Comes, But Wisdom Lingersn. In March we went to Lansing to visit the Legislative Department, and in this month we also had a bake sale at McDowells'. Profits came pouring in. Slowly our Senior year came to a close. The big day was May 15 when the Juniors gave us a Prom. The banquet was held at the Methodist Church. The dance was held in the High School gym. The next big event was our Senior Trip to Chicago. Our Baccalaureate Service was held on Sunday, May 29, 1949 in the High School gym. Then 'Graduation Dayn on June l, 1949. The end drew near and surely most of us had some regrets in leaving.
