The yearbook was discussed and ideas were expressed before work on the book began, Copy and identification for the pictures were checked with faculty advisors to assure correct spelling of names and description of clubs and activities. Rainy weather and fog interfered with taking class pictures, but they were finally taken and identified. Faculty and club pictures were shot before school, at noon, and after school, therefore, avoiding interfer- ence with classes. The cover of the Oak was chosen after careful study of many samples brought to the school by the manu- facturers and salesmen. The introduction of our new school plant was decided to be the center of interest on the cover as well as the theme of the book. ic Ad Sfrlesmf-ri Paula Calk, Pearl ods, loyce Grant, Nora Mayberry, llnet Swisher, Iohnny Morgans. pus. t r.'t ' 59 Editor--DALE MCPHERSCN The Pioneer 'T ' . Row 2-Coach Drsbrow, Ken Phillips, Bill Beane, Fred Edwards, Torn Disbrow, Dick Krndy, Jerry Hunter, Don Lesher. lib The A track team of Visalia Senior High School has made some good showings thus far this season. Coached by Disbrow, the Pioneers have shown some good individuals. Visalia has some good men in almost every event, however the team lacks in depth. Some of the more promising are: Case who has hit nearly 52 feet in the shot. Edwards is the number one sprint man. Disbrow and Phillips lock good in the 440 as does Bean in the distance runs- lt is the coach's belief that Visalia A class team should finish high in the county meet this year. The B class track team had what could be called a fairly suc- cessful season this year, and out of this year's B class team should come some good material for the future. The B team is composed of most of last year's C class team and should serve as a feeder to next year's A class team. Outstanding for the B class team were: Babcock, Combs, Gor- man, and Godfrey in the sprints, and Case in the weight events. Although Visalia is not too strong in the B class, they should put on a good race for the county title.
