Four technical fouls on the erowzl may very well have been the deciding factor of the elose Porterifille game. fl winning streak over Woodlalie, Taft, Diniiba and Delano was interrupted by a defeat by I lanford and another followed from Tulare. The Pioneers were unable to score against the Bulldogs in the third period and the Redslqins never had less than a nine point lead. Proiring that Porteruille was really a weaker team, the Pioneers oiitplayed them by a wide margin in two periods to win the seeond game. Next Uinuba fell before the prowess of the Pioneers. In its last game Visalia took a good lead in the first half,' Hanford rallied in the seeond half, but not enough to eateh up with Visalia. lfill Tolbsert was elei ted by the team as their eaplain and was also seleeted as the year's most outstanding basketball player. fames Philpot was seleeted as the most inspirational player. Although the Voodoos of i945-46 were an aggressive team, they only managed to tie with Dinaba for third place in the league tournament. Hzren with all the disappoint- ments, the Voodoos were fairly siieeessfiil, winning half of their league eneonnters. ln sffite of being rated underdogs they emerged Liietors ozfer 1'ortert'ille in their first league contest. In a low srore eontest with Dinalra, all the team members were in floor shape and missed most of their shots. An ezfen worse defeat followed when the Voodoos were beaten by Hanford's Terriers. Hat the Voodoos eame around again to defeat the weaker Delano team. In the following week they were defeated by the Tulare Pafrooses. ln this leap frog system of wins and losses, l'isalia now eame out winners when the li team again beat Porterzfille. tlnd in one of the season's most exeiting ganies, the Voodoos re- eenged their loss to Dinnba, the eontest being rough and L'l'I'y fast. The last eontest of the season, l'isalia lost to rhe Hanford 'l'erriers. They were ahead at the end of the first period and the Voodoos gained the edge at half t1me,' but when they triea' to stall, Hanford toolq the lead and held it to win the game C Cllrxrzs Bmsl-zistlsflllz hom He-ul lnxou, lor Gmzuxm, Rrxymond Gomez, Mike De Lg Cruz mil Hubble 4.f1::i1ri-117 bm-k llfmelx Bob Wldqwyl lmn Sexton, B111 Wlntfield, Miqhqgl Lqlly, Bsxrzkclkvsxli xmxxmqs-1::: HAIIIY 51011, 11111 Alfrud Wllllfxmia amd Hvvwsmrd Gfxqnos, Bsuulxtxxt find Bois Gouda JC Class Team: lst row--Bob Loyd, discuss, Richard Switzer, shot put, Douglas Burris, 75, Bob Casares, pole vault, Eugene Brazil, pole vault: Ronnie Packard, 75, Raymond Nefi, high jump, Bennie Zayas, broad jump, Eugene Clore, shot put, discus, Znd row-Ray l-larada, high jump, lim Chambers, 75, Ioe Cesna, high jump, Tony Mendonca, pole vault: Mike Lally, hurdles, Derrl Rawlins, high jump, Raymond Gayton, 125, broad jump, Leo Swanson, 75, 120, relay, pole vault, Ioe Graziani, discus, 3rd row-Will McDowell, manager, Johnny Souza, 75, Ed Simon, hurdles, lim Lansdowne, hurdles, John Zarate, high jump, Harry Hains, high jump, broad jump, Bill Whitfield, hurdles, Bill Mitchell, shot put, Bob McLain, 75, l2O, relay, Howard Gagnos, 75, 120, relay, broad jump, Moose Disbrow, Coach.
