Driven away from the cross country team by discriminatory policies, and a dissatisfaction with the calibre of coaching pro- vided, they banded together and enjoyed a fine indepen- dent season of racing. Late in the season they were il- legally suspended by the Athletic Department in an ef- fort to prevent them from joining the track team. This suspension was overturned by the State Athletic Commis- sion. lt is hoped that the Rebels will not have to exist next year, but if they must, they will plague the athletic department until its rules are changed.
