Kew Varsity Soccer: row 1: francisco del valle, peter wurtz, carlos da luz, tom slelslinger, steve babzlen, arnie andreassen, joe roboli, neil kruezberger, karl bettinger, russell fujiwara. row 2: bill jones, john broderick, don ballard, steve innes, ken edgemon, fred langecker, kelly wheeler, david harvard, tom daggett, greg hall, andres carelson, john hofman, tim hllton. The Varsity Water Polo team compiled another out- standing record, 12 victories and 2 defeats, and a second place finish in league competition. Their only losses were to Terra Linda, who won the cham- pionship. Taking over the helm for Mr. Bill Purcell, who was on sabbatical leave, was Mr. Stan Bu- chanan. Ken MacDonald and Doug Brockbank, the team captain, were selected to the All-League team. The Girls' Gymnastic team, captained by Michele vaulting, uneven bars, balanced exercise. With Mrs. Margaret Molly Boucher as coaches, the in the Marin County Meet and Pla, competed in beam, and floor Schaulis and Mrs. team placed fifth went on to the Northern California and Optional Meets. Although this year's Varsity Soccer team had a full complement of talent, they won only 1 game out of ten. With a record of 1 wln, 7 losses, and 2 tles, the team finished in last place. ln his first year as coach was Mr. Pat Bacchus. Team captains were Tom Daggett and Sharian Sarabi.

Varslty Basketball: row 1: bob zimmerman, larry bascom, mike connor, rlch hagler, john hunter, sam bert farb. row 2: brian d'autremont mgr., greg pedlar, tim hennesy, john mc namee, scott trobbe, dave tikker, steve mc gee, coach hart. The Big Red Machine, the Varsity Basketball team, churned up their opposition and chalked up 21 victorles to 5 defeats. For the thlrd consecutive year, Big Red took the league championship. On the way to this wln- ning streak, they compiled a perfect season of 14 wlns and no losses. Also they set a record for consecutive victories ln league play at 41. For the third straight year the team went to the Tournament of Champions ln Oakland. Mr. Dick Hart was again the coach of this championship club. Senior Scott Trobbe and Junlor Steve McGee, both All-League selections were co-captains. Young wrestlers lllled the roster of this year's wrestling team and the record of the team, 4 wins 7 losses, reflected the team's inexperience. In the league season their record was 3 victorles, 2 defeats which placed them thlrd. Seniors Jef Pedersen and Jeff Perdelwitz were team captains. Coach Al Endrlss led hls Varsity Baseball team to an- other successful season. The comblnatlon of consistent pitching and solld hlttlng car- rled them through the season. John Moresco, Bob Gorman, Steve Laden, and Gene Frey composed the pltchlng staff. Hitters Jlm Kegwlen, Bob Brown, Bob Gorman, and Scott Barrle provlded the power that drove In the runs. Redwood once again was a powerhouse In tennls compe- tltlon. This year the team ran lts consecutive wlnnlng streak to 50 matches. The top three players were Mark Rodnlck, Andy Walker, and Dan Tler- ney. Gary Walter, a top player last year, was unable to com- pete because of Illness. Mr. Glen Dickey was agaln the team's coach. As happens almost every year, Redwood had another power- ful Varsity Swlmmlng team. Two of the top swimmers were Brlan Hennesy and Paul Cane: both had double vlctorles ln two of the tlrst three meets. Blll Purcell, back from sab- batical leave, coached the squad. 147
