This year Redwood's glrls' swlm team maintained its winning tradition by sharing first place with San Rafael. The seasonal record was 6-1. The team was coached by Miss Ruth Frank. Competitlon was In the crawl, breast, back, and butterfly strokes and diving. The girls' tennis team placed 2nd with a record of 7 wins and 1 loss. Mrs. Pamela Deschler coached the team to this successful season. Wlth a record of 11 wins and 1 defeat, this year's girl's volleyball team tied for 1st place with Marin Catholic. Miss Myrna Reed was the coach of this championship team. Wlnnlng proved to be an elusive goal for the Redwood Varsity Football team this year. Many times during the season it looked as if victory would be reached, but elght times out of nine the team fell short. Elected as captains were Steve Green and Andy Anixter. The head coach was Mr. Floark, assistants were Mr. Payan, Mr. Prlce, and Mr. Endriss. ln spite of their performances this year, the varsity team has hlgh hopes for next season. This year's J. V. team fared better than the Varsity team by winning two out of seven games, although many of the sophomores were on the varslty. Dave Gunderson and Scott Kaplan were captains of the team. One group that dld do well was the undefeated Frosh. Coached by Mr. Troppmann and captained by Bill Endralin, they won the M. C. A. L. title. For the flrst time in flve years, the Varslty Cross Country team dld not take the league title. Their record was a respectable 6-2 however. Captain of the team was Joe Clark. Keeping up the winning tradtion was the Soph.-Frosh team. They not only finished flrst in league competition but won the N. C. S. meet and continued on to the Division lll meet. The captain of this championship team was Ned Overrand. Coach for both teams was Mr. Stan Toblnson. Varsity Cross Country: pete treganowen, mlke fal- vey, mike sweeney, rlck norton, loo clark, stu listug, don elsener, coach toblason. 143

Varslty Basketball: row 1: bob zimmerman, larry bascom, mike connor, rlch hagler, john hunter, sam bert farb. row 2: brian d'autremont mgr., greg pedlar, tim hennesy, john mc namee, scott trobbe, dave tikker, steve mc gee, coach hart. The Big Red Machine, the Varsity Basketball team, churned up their opposition and chalked up 21 victorles to 5 defeats. For the thlrd consecutive year, Big Red took the league championship. On the way to this wln- ning streak, they compiled a perfect season of 14 wlns and no losses. Also they set a record for consecutive victories ln league play at 41. For the third straight year the team went to the Tournament of Champions ln Oakland. Mr. Dick Hart was again the coach of this championship club. Senior Scott Trobbe and Junlor Steve McGee, both All-League selections were co-captains. Young wrestlers lllled the roster of this year's wrestling team and the record of the team, 4 wins 7 losses, reflected the team's inexperience. In the league season their record was 3 victorles, 2 defeats which placed them thlrd. Seniors Jef Pedersen and Jeff Perdelwitz were team captains. Wrestling: row 1: don littman, steve cohn, bob crot- togini, jim guckian, jef pedersen, jeff perdelwitz, mike urquhart. row 2: dave perdelwitz, steve blake. mike roush, ellard roush, bob mc allister, dan young. row 3: randy huddelston, steve renke, char- lle newman, dave oser, tom english, vlctor rossoff, peder pedersen, steve mac rae, ernesto mendoza. row 4: holt cole, jim carbone, john moody, tucker weaver, mike glicksberg, colin reeve, roger haman, chris belden, rlch bland.
