A championship for the gallant Redwood Giants fell short by a few inches and a couple of minutes. The Giants ended their season on a high note by defeating previously undefeated Terra Linda 25-I0 in what was described by Coach Bob Troppmann as the team's best effort of the season. The season at a glance: REDWOOD 18 - PALO ALTO 6 The Giants opened their season at the College of Marin Field with a win. Touchdowns by George Adams, Rob Dorinson and a fumble recov- ery by huge tackle Gary Kasprzak who ran 6l yards for the score ac- counted forthe home team's scores. REDWOOD 14 - RIORDAN 47 Redwood ran into a couple of guys named Braboy and Lamar in a foggy. misty night at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco. George Adams and Rebel Minutoli accounted for the Giant's scores. All league fullback Pete Richter sat out the game with a broken rib, as did Gary Kasprzak with a knee injury. REDWOOD 20 - CRESTMOOR 6 The Giants came to life in the second half to overcome a stubborn Crestmoor team from San Mateo. George Adams had his best day scoring once, and then had a 7l yard touchdown called back because of a penalty. Pete Carroll and Terry Cox were on the receiving end ofJim Peters' passes for the other touchdowns. Again the injury plagued Giants were without the services of Rob Dorinson, Pete Richter and Gary Kas- przak. REDWOOD 12- NOVA TO I4 The league season opened at Novato with the Giants losing by two points. It was one of the Giants best games with two plays making the difference in the game. A 66 yard run by the Novato fullback, Zechlin and a 77 yard pass from Russ Dillion to Pete Weekley. Otherwise, the Giants held the Hornets to 26 yards on the ground. Jim Peters passed to George Adams for one score and Pete Richter in his first game bulled for the other. The game was marred by an injury to defensive halfback Charles Flynn who suffered a broken neck. At right versatile Pete Carroll showed his talent at Quarterback against Ta.m's completing 6306 of his passes.
