Marc North conducts Chamber orchestra MUSICIANS J 4 x . Bass, Scott Sinnott at Concert Under the direction of Mr. Sidney Gordon, the Redwood High Concert Band, Orchestra, and Stage Band, played to full houses for their winter and spring concerts. For the first time the performances were held in the Student Cent- er. The concert band made their annual trip to the elementary schools at which they performed various progams. In February several members of the band and orchestra attended the U.O.P. music clinic. This year the orchestra and band, once again, went to Sonoma State Hospital and received a very warm welcome and appreciation from the audience. The orchestra also played for the school musicals. The stage band, in addition to playing at two concerts, also played at a Redwood dance. This year a new group was formed, the Red- wood Chamber Orchestra. It was a student run organization which met two days a week after school. They held concerts for the school and for other organizations. The leader and conductor of the group was senior Marc North. 141

SPIRIT BOO TER The 1968-69 Basketball season started out with a bounce! The Yell and Songleaders were joined by the Pep Band and together they brought Redwood to a new height of spirit at games and rallies. Students, with their tremen- dous enthusiasm, supported the efforts of the Yell and Songleaders by buying spirit ribbons and by making fantastic showings at all the league games. As is the tradition, the Yell and Songleaders gave team dinners and made posters for the games, which provided more enjoyment for all involved. Spirit Week bubbled over with enthusiasm. Slaves were bought, and dressed in weird costumes, were seen parading down the halls. A Junior-Senior powder puff basketball game was held for the first time and took place during the week ofthe Coronation. All in all the Redwood Rooters supported their team from December through February, and even then some. The Pep Band Boosts the Spirit.
