VARSITY B SKB TBALL ROW 1-Larry Wolfe, Bob Piro, Lawrence Herst, Kit Bricca, Dave Auerbach, Tom Strathairn. ROW 2- Coach Dick Hart, Jim Carroll, Tom Bly, Jim Halm, Don Rogers, Hillard Witt, Don Bly. The Giants started the season green as grass with only ou, two returning lettermen, Kit Bricca and Hillard Witt. It looked like a long season for Coach Hart's troops. After winning only two of the first nine games the hoopsters rallied and behind the good shooting of Dave Auerbach and Tom Bly the season ended at a 500 clip, winning 13, losing 13. The Giants won seven of their last 10 games. Larry Herst and Bob Piro paired off at the guard positions. Hillard Witt and Jim Halm were the strong rebounders and Tom Strathairn and Don Bly alternated with the starting forwards. Many different combinations started the games. Jim Carroll topped the scorers in the Poly game, Larry Wolfe carried the offense load in the early games, and Don Rogers played good ball during the league tournament at Christmas time. The high spot of the entire season was when the Giants ended the San Rafael Bulldogs by 53-51 after having been defeated by them 66-32 during the Christmas tournament. An example of the team play was shown when it was dis- covered that all twelve members of the squad had enough play- ing time to be awarded their letter. And, looking forward to next year, we find there will be ten lettermen, the most in Giant history, welcomed back by Coach Hart. They have the makings of a championship team. To cap the season the team was feted with a banquet at Dominic's Restaurant on March 6. lt was a fine evening.
