This game also sau quarterbatk Roger Siemens throw a 41 yard touchdown pass to Dave Bortfeld. In this successful season all but two of Redwoods 18 records xx ere broken by outstanding players, both indiyidually and as a team. At the top of the indiyidual list was Curtis Embry with -i broken records to his credit. Dave Bortfeld set the record for the longest touchdown run from a scrimmage. Quarter- back Bob Ostaggi, who piloted the team to its championship, has two Redwood records to his name. Captain Sam Vfilliams yy as not yyithout record breaking performances. He carried the ball 100 times in the '59 season to a 5,52 yard average per carry. The Giants team, led by Captain Rick Weil in the line, held its season opponents to a net gain of only 595 yards while racking up 1,826 for themselxes. On the 1959 Marin County All-League Team, Redwood plated 5 members of the Giants champions. Captain Rick XY'eil, Mike Hoffman, and Prep-of-the-XY'eek Eric Lindner enforced the line. while speedy Curtis Fmbry and Prep-of-the-Vfeek Sam XVilliams stood side by side in the backrield. No less applause should go to Coach Troppman, whose leadership and outstanding coach- ing ability combined to produce a championship football team.
