The student court sen- tences those who plead guilty on the spot, but allows others several days to prepare 21 defense. Then the defendent is confronted with the ar- resting self-government ofncer in ll full-scale trial. Redvvood's student court was organized as part of the student government system. In its noon sessions the court tries offenders of regu- lations set up bv the students themselves and enforced bv self-government members. As far as possible. the court chooses punishments which will be of some benent to the school. Barton I.ane, Daxitl A l Scholarship for Service is the motto of the California Scholar- I ' ship Federation. The purpose of this organization is to encourage high academic standards. The applications for the charter members Y 'ff in the organization were processed by the Scholarship Committee during the beginning of March, followed by the hrst election of officers. Under the direction of advisers Miss Mildred Mateer and Mr. Wlilliam Fdick, the organization contributed to the Seymour INIemo-- rial Scholarship Fund which awards C. S. F. scholarships to worthy students, conducted future freshmen around the campus on Fresh- men Orientation Day, and participated in other interschool affairs. The climax of the years program was the presentation of gold lamp pins to Life Members, seniors who had been members of C. S. F. four out of their last six semesters in high school.
