XY'orking against many obstacles such as the unnnished gym and a lack of necessary funds, the Social Activities Committee sponsored its first dance. Cupid's Caners. on Valentines Day, This committee under the direction of Elaine Lyons and Mr. Ronald Ilurt, adviser, is responsible for securing dates for dances, planning decorations, selecting music and cleaning un. In April a new idea, the corridor dance, was introduced. In addition to these. the seniors and the sophomores both sponsored dances as did the Varsity Club: all were aided by the Social Activities Committee. This year's Program Committee was actually two committees: one formed in the fall under the direction of Dick Breyer and Kathy Anixter, the second organized in the spring under the Combined efforts of Bud Zumwalt and Mike Wfoods. The committee consists of at least three students from the fresh- men, sophomore, junior, and senior classes. Their job is to help find talent from each class for rallies, assemblies, and other activities. The organization arranged exchange rallies, guest star shows, and other programs. Members of Redwoods first two Program Committees can take pride in their membership in an organization which had a hand in establishing a tradition of fine rallies and assemblies.
