The computer was used to raise money for the Computer Club. A videocamera was used to take pictures. The pictures went on the computer and were then printed. The Computer Club had a project that gladdened some mothers' hearts. The club took pictures of each student in the kindergarten class, converted them to computer printouts, and gave the prints to the students' mothers for Mother's Day. 55 Junior High, Row Is Sheri Haas, Laura Reed, Lara Mielke, Tammy Peterson, Shelly Neudecker, Kim Sullivan, Kathryn Kiergaard, Kristen Rindfleisch, Danette Jahn, Dana McGowan. AFS When I was little, I had a big dream. That dream was to come to the United States. And that big dream finally came true. At the beginning of the year it was hard for me to take classes because of the language. But my friends and teachers helped me a lot to fit in. My experience in Redwood Falls is something that I will never forget in my life. During my stay I was given the opportunity to participate in volleyball and track. In the sports I met a lot of new friends and I had so much fun with them. One of the things that I will never forget is the trips my host family took me on. They took me to California where I got to go to Disneyland and 1 also got to see so many beautiful sights. But the most exciting moment was when I saw my father, I was so glad that I could get to see my father in the United States and I was also glad that I had a chance to go to see some other parts of the United States. Another experience that 1 will never forget is the friends I made from the German exchange and those wonderfull moments we shared. It was so nice to get to know each other from different countries. I am glad that I could get to know those German people, too. And I hope that I will see them someday. I have got to know so many people here in the United States. I would like to thank my host family and all the people in Red- wood Falls for being so friendly and making me feel like at home. It is so hard to say good-bye to all of you. 1 really had a great time here in Redwood Ralls. And I will never forget it. Being exchange student was just great!! 1 enjoyed my year. I hope that I will come back here in Redwood Falls and see you someday. I will miss you a lot ... Thanks again. Love, Megumi Yamashita (Japan) It's May already. I can't believe that I have already spent nine months of my life in the great USA. When I first got to Redwood Falls, I wasn't really excited about spending a year of my life here. The first months were really hard for me. My family tried to help me, but I had to get over the culture shock by myself since it was part of my experience. Now I'm really glad that I had this wonderful opportunity to live in another country. I had a lot of good times during this year that I will never forget like being in the play (practicing all those difficult words, like Shecky, Treacheries , and so on ... ) or joining the gymnastics team (making a fool of myself in public). I also started liking algebra for the first time in my life (Thanks to Mr. Erickson! !). I'm really glad that I had the opportunity to learn French here and share my problems with my best friend and teacher Mrs. Elling- worth. Well, 1 have MANY things to say, but dear Mr. Ashcroft is only giving me two more minutes to finish writing this farewell. Thanks a lot to everybody!!! I'll be back! They were accompanied by Eva-Maria May and Peter Petersson and remained until April 10. While here they stayed with their partners from RFMHS. 63 Boys' Basketball In tram urals Team 1; Row 1: Mark Rohlik, Dan Wellnitz, Ron Farmer. Row 2: Paul Kriegl, Mike Becker, Rick Coulson. The seniors although few in number, provided tre- mendous leadership throughout a season that fea- tured many games that were decided in the final minutes of play. This was a very young squad which looks for- ward to a bright future, one that promises to be rewarding and exciting. NINTH GRADE SCOREBOARD Cards 6 Windom Opp. 26 12 Montevideo 6 26 Granite Falls 6 6 Willmar 20 0 Marshall 28 8 New Ulm 14 This is a team characterized by a strong offense and a hard hitting defense. Turnovers on offense kept these kids from scoring more points while the defense was hurt by the big play. Even with a losing record, the freshman Cards had a good season. They played well despite a number of losses against some very good schools in our area. Judging by the number of kids out this season, and the ability of this group of athletes, this will be a team that the communities of Redwood Falls and Morton will be proud of for years to come. JR. HIGH SCOREBOARD The Junior High football teams enjoyed an exciting season. The four teams made-up the Cardinal Football League. Each team plays six games and based on their win-loss record qualifying for the championship games that wrap-up the season. This year the Sting Rays and the Bears met for the Championship. Both teams had 4-2 records and the Bears won the Championship by holding off the Sting Rays in the final minute. The Consolation game was an excellent contest between the Gators and the Terminators. When the final seconds ticked off the clock the Gators were victorious. The players worked hard, developed their skills, and had a fine season. 70 Eighth Grade: Row 1: (73)Bryan Weiss (61)Erik Woodford (52)Matthew Pryor (4)Don-Lee Kessler (18)Jonathan McCorkell (2)Paul Lasley (55)Shane Boney (80)Joel Hansen (44)Eric O'Neil (31)Aaron Roller (22)Brad Franklin (32)Christopher Brandt (21)Cory Lepper. Thank you, patrons, for your support of the Redwood Falls - Morton High School yearbook. The Cardinal is a student publication, and we, the staff, believe we recorded the events that made our school year unique. Your support has enabled us to present a quality annual to the student body for a reasonable price. Without your patronage, the yearbook would cost twice as much to produce, which would drastically curtail student sales. Another effect of your backing has been to provide an opportunity for interested students to learn the skills of journalism: ad selling, layout, photography, writing, and editing.
