Parade brings fans and spirit to game 1970-71: a year of yesterday’s past and tomorrow’s bold beginning. With the turning of the school calendar came the month of October, holding within its bounds a unique experience for the student body of RFHS. Soon football boys, cheerleaders, selected committee members, and everyone was busily indulged in meeting the hot deadlines for Car- dinal Days, a hectic but rewarding experience for all who chose to par- take. With the sun on Thursday arose the mysterious question of who was to be crowned 1970 Cardinal Days Queen as well as which brave squad of female gridders was to become victorious in the awesome Powder Puff football game. The questions in doubt were solved when Paula Swenson was crowned by football co-captains Tom Inglis and Mike Perrizo to reign over the Cardinal Days activities and the seniors pulled out an inspiring victory in the girl’s game. However, these events by no means ended these special days at Redwood. With Friday’s awakening came an enthusiastic pep-fest in which even a few members of our fine faculty displayed their talents before the student body. Then, with high hopes for happiness, the bands, queen candidates, cheerleaders, and costumed students began the brisk and anti-tradi- tional Cardinal Days parade at 6:30 P.M. Following this brassy event came the big moment for everyone — kick-off of the football game with the Windom Eagles. After this exciting, hopeful, but tears-in-the- end contest, RFHS Cardinal-backers and even a few Windom students ridded themselves of any surplus energy to the rapture of Midwest. Then, with tired feet, mixed thoughts, and the spirit of “It all went by so fast’’ everyone prepared to meet THE END.
