STANDING: Barry Kleinart. Ray. Britt Kleinart. Now the summer has come and so my year in Redwood has come to an end. I really haven’t ever had a year, pass this fast, this memorable and col- orful. Thanks to everybody who made it possible. It seems to me, we can never give up longings and wishings while we're alive and especially if you're living in Redwood or spend some time here, like a year. Because there surely are too many things and very many people that you cannot easily leave behind and forget Have you ever had your day suddenly turn sun- shiny because of a cheerful word or have you ever wondered if this could be the same world, because someone had been unexpectedly kind to you? I’ve had these days and I’ve had times, I wondered dur- ing my stay but the world was the same one every time and so were the people living in it. Thus I fi- nally came to a conclusion that this is the natural course of events in Redwood Falls and nothing is unusual about it. Thanks to AFS, my guide and the one who gave me the opportunity to explore this new world, full of wonderful people and best of everything. I am grateful. I was once told to accept the things to which fate binds me and love the people with whom fate brings me together but . .. then to do so, with all my heart. I believe in this and I want you to realize it too and just think about it everytime you open your ’70 Cardinal and read it. In our confused world today, we need to believe in these kinds of ideas and to try to do what they say. That’s why I was here, partly, this year and this is what AFS tries to say in a way. I’m happy if I have brought this understanding across the ocean, from part of the world’s youngsters, to you, to share with. I never was able to express myself, however I feel, in words and I think I’m still unable. So, don’t wonder why or feel bad if you don’t get much out of what I’ve said. Some never did understand while I was talking to them, but they’ll understand. There could be a lot more to say about a year. Remember that there is an open house in Istanbul and a very close friend of yours, who is loving you and will be very happy to see you again, if you can make it over there. But I’ll be back one day, anyway. May these lines be a reminder of me and how much I think of you. Let’s walk in faith, run in hope and exhaust ourselves in love.
