SECRETARY DORTHEA Juul and Superintendent Dale Kempfert check up on school board funds. SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS ARE Kathe Wilcoxen. Susan Brandt. Carol Stramel. Lynda Gustafson. SEATED: Dale Kem- fert. Lee Patten. Steven Strawzell. Steve Diehl. STANDING. Stalwarts R KEN STEVENS AND Pat Bestick demonstrate proper bak ing techniques. Student Government Day was slightly different this year. The principal, superintendent, and school board were elect- ed after the usual vigorous campaign; whereas, teachers, secretaries, nurses, librarians, cooks and janitors were cho- sen by the school board after submitting a written applica- tion. Some teachers taught for the entire day. while others taught for only a few hours. Heading the Stalwart platform were Superintendent Dale Kempfert and Principal Steve Diehl. The day began with a flag raising ceremony and speeches by the superintendent and principal. Five minutes between classes and a length- ened lunch hour added extra touches, otherwise, the day went much as normal. This year's student government day gave students not only a chance to exhibit teaching abilities, but also the oppor- tunity to experience the jobs teachers, administrators and other personnel perform daily. 24
