The Student Council was engaged in many activities under the leadership of President Tom Tiffany and the supervision of Mr. Merrill Pederson. Some of these activities included Parent’s Night during football; Mom’s Night during basket- ball; Dad’s Night during wrestling; Homecoming, the biggest single activity of the Student Council; the popcorn machine, the main source of income; AFS Day and the Student Hand- book, which is put out to enable the student to recognize his privileges and obligations as a student of RFHS. The Student Council consists of five Seniors, four Juniors, and three Sophomores as voting members, as well as the AFS student and the Senior High class presidents. Last fall, five members attended the Student Council Con- vention at Walnut Grove, where Redwood Falls High School was elected Treasurer of the Conference. The purposes of Student Council are to enable pupils to voice their opinions as to the control of extracurricular ac- tivities, to develop leadership through responsibility, to promote student interest and participation in school govern- ment, and to develop in the student the appreciation of the privilege of participating in democracy on a small scale.
