So nigh is grandeur to our dust So near is God to man When duty whispers low, Thou must The youth replies, I can. 5. 2 lllfll FOHIPJ ffl!!! QIYIIKIIII 1711 Do you hear the echo of gay, ringing laughter, excited voices and serious discussion, Class of 48 ? Surely you do, for those echoes are the various moods of the moments we've spent within the sheltering halls of our alma mater. How we wish we could begin all over again and relive every happy day we've known since the fall of the year l9-44. Yes, we've had our moments of despair and anxiety, but greatly outnumbering these were our carefree hours. Each day has given us memories we'll treasure forever. Let us retrace our footsteps. As underclassmen we were shy and timid just as countless other freshmen classes before us. After becom- ing accustomed to the teasing of the upperclassmen, we settled down to work and served notice to those same hecklers that the Class of 48 was to be admired for its successful participation in all activities. Class parties, dances, and other interesting projects enlivened our fresh- men and sophomore years. Now came that long awaited goal. At last we were upperclassmen. Gur junior year was an active one, with a class party and the traditional Iunior-Senior Prom. This was truly a memorable school term. As seniors our school year has gone by quickly, for we have had many activi- ties to fill our days. We are now about to try our wings in the wide world: as all fledglings must leave their shel- tering homes, we must leave Redstone High. ln the years to come as we follow our individual paths to success, we shall fondly remember our happy, carefree days of youth spent in our dear Alma Mater. A fitting motto for our class might be a portion of the poem Voluntaries HI by Waldo Emerson. 19
