KPhoto by Paul Cor-1 EMAINING AT Tl-IE TOT' M Vl-IS GAINS RESPECT W This was the year of achieving great overall success in both aca- demics and sports. Academically man students, who took the Cioldlen State Exams in Algebra and Geometry, were awarded with high honors. They received a Certificate of Merit and a free lunch. This year was also the birth of the Academic Decathlon for Redondo. Nine students from our school com eted with 60 other schools in thje L.A. County. They did outstandin , placing fifth in math and eight? in English. Returning to the Pioneer League, after spendin two years in the Bay League, Sie athletic teams dominated their oppo- nents. The fall sports did excep- tionally well, all qualifying for CIF and overall the winter and spring sports did extremely well. The performin arts including Band, Dance DME, Tall Flags, Ri- fles, and the Drama De artment had a great year. In their first three competitions band placed in the top three each time. The Drama Department hosted the annual drama festival in mid Octo- ber and was a great success. Opening 5
