Changes take place everywhere-even in the High Tide. This year the staff decided to change the look of the paper by using a bolder nameplate and adding much more artwork. A second addition was also adding assistants to the page editors. ln its 68th year, the High Tide again won the Medalist Award from Columbia University for being one of the best high school newspapers in the nation, and was the only publication west of Texas to be so honored. With Ken Svendsen at the helm, the staff showed a lot of togetherness throughout the year. During April many took a trip up to San Francisco to participate in the National Scholastic Press Association Convention. To help take the strain off putting out a weekly paper, the staff went Christmas caroling, acted in many athletic games with other clubs, and enjoyed several social events including a Big Bear TCTTGBT.
