-.J edmond High experienced the introduction of a new- ly formed club this year the Stang Letter Club. The Letter Club is open to any person who has let- tered in a sport. The advisor Dave Chesler and president Scott Russell have worked hard at establishing the Letter Club at RHS along with set- ting the goals and purposes of the vice president Heidi Lewis secretary and Wendy Jenkins treasurer. The Stang Letter Club s purpose at RHS is to form a group of supporters for all athletes in all athletic events and to promote drug-free athletics. The 20-25 members take turns at at- tending all sports to root their fellow athletes on. The Letter Club holds its meetings during activity periods and before school. Running the basketball concession stand was the Letter Club s main form Club. Throughout the year the Club voted on and publicized the athlete of the month and the scholar athelte of the year. The Honor Sociefy gives supporf and flme fo fhe community. he Honor Society of the 1986 87 school year had ,AR 92? . . approxlmately one hun- dred and fifty members. The officers were: Karen Lauve, Presidentg Debbie Sandgren, Vice Presidentg Same Fowler, Trea- sureg and Jennifer Morris, Secretary. The advisors were Mrs. Elaine Hardin and Mrs. Mary Alice Burleigh. The Honor Society is a national Or- ganization for students excelling aca- demically and who have the following qualities: scholarship good character leader skills and a desire to do com- munity service. In order to be accept- ed into the Honor Society the stu- dents needed to have a 3.5 grade point average and two teacher recomenda- tions. I think Honor Society is an effective way to recognize academic achievement as well as to encourage participation in extracuricular activi- New to the Honor Society during the 1986-87 school year was their as- sistance with the Special Olympics.
